- Small family site on the edge of the Morvan Regional Park
- Table d'hôte meals twice a week in summer
- Hiking and mountain bike trails starting from the grounds
Small, serene and splendidly scenic... how lush is this friendly Burgundy site.
You can expend no energy whatsoever tracking down hiking and mountain biking trails from Saône et Loire's Camping le Paroy, as several of both flavours start directly from the grounds along the Celtic Ways, and plenty more meander around the lakes, forest and woodland of the Morvan Regional Natural Park, spanning 281, 400 hectares to the site's north.
The trails of the Celtic Ways range from four to 20 kilometres in length, so can be tackled according to how sturdy your hiking or biking legs feel on any particular day. Or you could opt to remain idle on site instead, at the small fishing pond next to the grounds, or by finding your own peaceful place to settle down at among these spectacular surrounds.
You don't even need to stir yourself to think of dinner if you don't want: the friendly owners arrange a table d'hôte a couple of times a week in summer, where you can share a home-cooked meal with them and other hungry guests. Outside these times, order bread as well as buy fresh eggs and veg at the site shop, or source your food and drink supplies a few minutes' drive away in La Tagnière.
Camping le Paroy is a small and family-friendly site in southern Burgundy, 20 minutes' drive from the pretty granite massif village of Uchon. Pitches are on grass and amenities include a launderette, free wifi and a modern toilet and shower block with accessible facilities.

For a gentler option, take a day trip to the famed Burgundy vineyard region, the part of France with more AOC wines than anywhere else in the country. The Route des Grands Crus wine route passes through several swish parts of the vino area, between Dijon and Beaune on the way to Santenay; access it about an hour and 10 minutes away at Beaune.
To the south of the Morvan Regional Natural Park, the Gallic fortified town of Bibracte (35 minutes' drive) is a top spot and study site for historical sorts geeky about Celtic civilisation. The museum has a permanent exhibition of archaeological items, an amphitheatre, and recreations of Celtic daily life.
