  • Peaceful Burgundy glamping on the banks of the Loire Lateral Canal
  • Nevers and the Magny Cours Circuit within a 20-minute drive
  • Bike/canoe hire, play area and pétanque on site; bar and restaurant
Settling down next to a body of water is usually a pretty peaceful experience – and that’s something you’ll quickly discover at La Halte du Canal, in a quiet rural Burgundy location on the banks of the Loire Lateral Canal, a couple of kilometres from the village of Luthenay-Uxeloup. The accommodation here is fairly simple in style, in wooden structures with beds and bed linen provided (plus heating to make sure you can keep cosy in all weathers). Each unit has outdoor seating provided too, for hours spent sitting out in the fresh air looking up into the trees around you and simply enjoying the feeling of having all that open space all around you. Need a drink or snack to help complete the picture? Pick up the essentials at the store in the village. Alternatively, make life even easier for yourselves and stay on site to grab drinks from the bar or settle in for a meal at the restaurant. There’s a pétanque court and games room to help you work up an appetite for such things, plus a play area, trampoline and games for the kids. You can hire bikes on site, or bring your own along and store them in the dedicated shelter to keep them safe. Canoes are also available if you'd like to head out on the water. Alongside all these leisure facilities are various everyday essentials too, including a launderette, wifi and a toilet/shower block. When it’s time to get out and about you’ll have plenty of choice of how to fill your days – the site is close to both the historic city of Nevers and the famed circuit at Magny-Cours, and there are several family-friendly attractions nearby.
