Power optional grass campsite

Liked: The location was ideal, quiet and pretty. We stayed in dry, hot weather with a calm river and in a tree lined pitch. Welcome was friendly, the town had everything we needed for a stopover. Food at the restaurant was good, music on the day we arrived, great atmosphere

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Liked: Very friendly stuff Nice, quiet, peaceful place next to the river We were there for only 2 nights (on the way to home) and arrived there really late but that was no problem, we were good helped. I really appreciate it. Can't say anything about bar because we haven't take anything from here, but i saw many people eating there. Really good price.

Disliked: Facilities could be more clean Also playground looked really old and there wasn't many to do for children

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: Really good site in a lovely location, toilets and showers very clean, decent sized pitches

Disliked: The only downside is the male and female showers are in the same location but if you’re happy to have a shower whilst a member of the opposite sex takes a bowel movement then happy days

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: I loved this campsite. Our large tent pitch was well shaded and we had good privacy due to the trees and bushes around it. The staff were incredibly lovely, and very kind to our son. The restaurant was really popular and bustling, and although it was very busy into the evening the noise wasn't an issue as it was a lively steady background noise. I found the other campers were respectful and quiet, usually after around 10. The site felt very safe and our son enjoyed meeting children from other countries. The last night of our stay there was a local festival and there were fireworks in the town and live music in the restaurant, which was utterly charming. We enjoyed sitting outside of the restaurant in the bar area watching the world go by on the river. I highly recommend going to the kayak and boating business just a few minutes walk from the campsite. The staff there are also wonderful and we spent a great day kayaking on the river and stopping off at 'beaches' for a swim and a picnic. I would definitely come here again.

Disliked: Our only real issue is that as we were on an electric optional pitch, which I think is generally used by RVs or caravans, the ground under the grass was quite gravelly so we struggled to put our tent pegs in. But looking at the other tent sites they didn't seem to have the same problem.

Local attractions

Fishing folk, gather round, for this site offers direct access to a small Saône river beach and its diverse fishing, ranging from perch to carp. If you’d rather float down the river than fish in it, hire the site’s own houseboat from reception and chug along the tree-lined waterway. There are also several long-distance hikes passing along the riverbanks to follow on foot or by bike, including the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela in western Spain. If you’re looking to explore by car, make a stop at historic Auxonne (20 minutes’ drive) to see the landmark fort and well-preserved arsenal built by Vauban in 1690, and then have a wander around cobbled streets lined with ochre-coloured half-timbered houses. Gorgeous Dijon (45 minutes) is a splendid spot for a day trip, where you can marvel at medieval and Renaissance art in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon, then pick up gourmet cheeses and charcuterie from Les Halles Market to eat in the Jardin Botanique de l’Arquebuse.
