Camping La Civelle

When you’ve had your fill of waves, there’s lots to explore in this part of Aquitaine and there’s an easy way to get started: Vélodyssee. The 1,200-kilometre cycle route, which stretches from Brittany in the north to Hendaye on the Spanish border, passes through Capbreton, giving you fab sea views as you pedal along its length (or bits of it, at least). Take a break from the saddle with the less energy-fuelled pursuits of quad biking, miniature golf, go-karting and electric skateboarding (the latter through the forest in Labenne), all within 10 minutes’ drive of home base, then ramp the activity level back up with a day of swinging from tree to tree and firing globs of paint at your friends at Adrénaline Parc in Moliets, about half an hour away. There’s plenty nearby to keep the kids entertained if you haven’t managed to convince them that exercising is a good way to spend their hols: there are two waterparks within 20 minutes of La Civelle, and the Pop Corn Labyrinthe and Labenne zoo (both less than 15 minutes away) are worthy stops. If they’ve got energy still to burn, go a little further afield for Base de Pop (40 minutes) for a splashing time on inflatables and slides.
