Liked: Only few people there, so our stay was nice and pieceful, staff very friendly and helpful. Veiws spectacular right on the coast. In the summer months I would imagine it would be very busy as there are quite a few pitches stretching over quite a few fields. Nice walks over the fields and on the coastal path if dry.
Disliked: Quite tired looking even though toilets and showers were clean a good brush of the walls and windows to remove all the spiders would be nice. Need your vehicle to go any where. Over priced for this time of year with nothing going on and no little shop open.

From the manager: Thank you, Jane, for taking the time to provide a review. It's wonderful that you noticed the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and I particularly recall opening the reception office for you during the rain while you waited for your taxi. As mentioned and as per our communications, we are situated remotely, with the nearest habitation being St Davids, four miles away. This fact is not hidden; it is clearly stated on our website and in our correspondence. Therefore, receiving criticism for our location is quite disheartening. Taxi services are available, but like many services in Pembrokeshire, they operate on reduced hours outside the peak season. We clearly indicate that we are a green field campsite, offering some hard-standing pitches for selection. You joined a friend who had booked months in advance and chose to camp next to her. Upon arrival, we proposed relocating your pitches to firmer ground at the Farm House field's other end, but you preferred to stay put. Since the Farm House field is one of the flattest on the site, the need for levellers is puzzling, as there is no incline. As is typical for farm campsites, encountering the occasional spider is expected. These spiders also play a crucial role in controlling the fly population. While we remove most, some are intentionally left to remind guests of the rural, non-urban setting. It was indeed fortunate that you noticed we have the coastal path right outside and access to some incredible walks through the fields. As you correctly mentioned, the views of the coast are spectacular. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, and I understand you had to endure several days of relentless driving rain, which is far from ideal for coastal walks. Our pricing remains consistent throughout the year; we do not differentiate between low and high seasons. It's important to remember that the price includes access to all facilities, such as washing machines, tumble dryers, an indoor dining room equipped with microwaves, kettles, and toasters, and we also offer free WiFi. With the limited number of people on-site during the winter months, it's not feasible for us to open the main shop, as the staff wages would exceed the earnings. However, we do keep a small stock of emergency items at reception, and there's always someone traveling to and from St Davids who could pick up items upon request.

Liked: Loved the facilities and the size of the site. Felt like there was lots of space. Even in the kitchen area there was lots of space when the weather was really rough. The views were amazing. The staff were ever helpful upon arrival and made sure we knew where to go and where we could find everything. Would 100% stay again. Although never used but looked like there were lots of activities that can be utilised when the weather is good.

Pen Berry Field primitive grass campsite
Liked: Good hot showers with several hooks to hang up stuff, big communal spaces where to chill out if terrible weather, access to the site by tarmac roads so no need to worry about getting stuck in mud, the camp site lawn well maintained and pretty dry even when raining because it is on a bit of a slope rather than sitting on low-land, great view, cold water points & dishwashing near the camping sites and if need hot water for dishwashing those available at the central wash/shower units, good waste recycling.
Disliked: Can get very windy by the sea and not much vegetation protecting, rather long walk to the toilets from the campsite (only a problem in night and rain).

Liked: Friendly staff on arrival. The location is fantastic right next to coastal path. The site was spacious lots of room for everyone to spread out. Facilities basic but fine. Shop was again good for essentials but need to take your own stuff with you really. Had a lovely stay.
Disliked: Some areas could do with a refurb: toilet/shower block for example. Expanding the shop would be good because it is a long way out. A games room might be a good idea.

From the manager: Thank you for your detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our friendly staff, fantastic location next to the coastal path, and the spaciousness of our site. It’s great to know that you had a lovely stay and found our shop useful for essentials. We appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the toilet and shower block, and we’ll certainly consider refurbishments in the future, although that toilet block was only refurbished a couple of years ago. Expanding the shop and adding a games room is a good suggestion, and we’ll keep them in mind as we continue to improve our facilities. Obviously, our shop is there to provide essentials rather than trying to be a replacement for our local supermarket. It is worth noting that in the other large building, we already have several board games for customers to use and we also have a selection of books for customers to read - it is a pity that you missed this. But perhaps this is something that we could replicate in the other building. We hope to welcome you back soon! 🌟
