  • Well-maintained grass site in a peaceful Pembrokeshire location
  • Pembrokeshire Alpaca Trekking five minutes’ drive; Tenby 15 minutes
  • Pubs, restaurants and shops nearby; barbecues and firepits allowed
Splendid beaches, ancient castles and alpaca treks might already be on your watchlist; if not, Cresselly Camping is well positioned for those and many more Pembrokeshire activities – from rural hikes to fishing, and from mountain biking to watersports (paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing). You see, this friendly family-run site is within a five-minute drive of Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, with its kid-oriented activity programme, and 15 minutes from the coast and Tenby. Part of a small sheep farm, Cresselly is peacefully rural, with sublime scenery and plentiful walks. There are 11 grassy acres on site – plenty of space for kids and well-behaved dogs to play (as long as dogs are cleaned up after) – and basic facilities including portable toilets, a hot eco-shower, a washing-up station and a drinking-water tap. You’ll also be able to sample the local fodder, as there are several pubs within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. In addition, the local farm shop sells fresh milk via a vending machine; there is a small store and a fish-and-chip shop in Carew (five minutes); and Kilgetty (20 minutes) has several food places, a supermarket, chemist and post office. Those of you who don’t mind driving a little farther may want to browse Saundersfoot’s (20 minutes) beach-hut shops and eateries, or the bigger supermarkets in Pembroke Dock (also 20 minutes) – here, you’ll surely find something to stick on the barbecue or firepit back on site.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Big field, plenty of space, friendly owners, toilets nice and clean plenty of bins for recycling waste. Loved sitting and gazing at the stars.

Disliked: I had forgotten my light so going to the toilet in the dark was hard, maybe some solar lights around toilet area would be good

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Spontaneous couple of nights camping in the Tenby countryside! Perfect for what we needed, good communication (even when we had to arrive late) clean toilets and shower and a peaceful nights sleep! The owners of this campsite were so friendly and wanted to make sure everything was all ok! Deffo would recommend for chilled basic camping just how we like it!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We made a really last minute booking (around 8.30pm!), and the host was really lovely to us and accommodating, very helpful and friendly. We had the field to ourselves which was lovely, the facilities were really clean, the shower was lovely and warm. There was some really useful bits like a board with useful numbers and places (hospital etc) which I thought was great. The field is huge and given the capacity I can imagine you would always have plenty of space.

Disliked: Nothing, all was brilliant.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Everything about this place is serene, the owners are lovely and go above and beyond for their clientele! Toilets were clean and checked continuously ✅ (including sanitary products in a little basket for them emergancies) Shower was clean and checked also ✅ Judith greeted us really late in the evening as we had a nightmare journey, very accommodating asked if we needed anything (we hadn’t had time to shop and it was too late) so Judith kindly helped with a little bit of milk and tea bags so we could have a cuppa before bed! With us arriving so late we couldn’t get to our power banks and had no phones and with a child this is a must so help with making sure we had a phone charged, they also had a notice board with local information that we might need such as hospitals doctors and food places shops ect. Very informative! It was my sons birthday while we where there and the owner came down in his tractor to swap the toilets out and came and asked if little man would like to sit on the tractor and have some pictures as he loves them! Huge space for children to run around and play and lots of activities for the whole family very close by such as the dinosaur park, folly farm and lots more to do with the family. We are also going back next year for a longer period as it was amazing! Tent ⛺️ up and relax, let the kids run free and soak up the laughter and joy 🤩 Thank you for being so accommodating and for welcoming us to your beautiful part of wales, we can’t wait to come back and little man hasn’t stopped talking about the tractor. X

Disliked: The only thing I had problems with was the shower heat setting but we managed to sort it to shower our child and my partner loved it 🥰!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The owners were extremely friendly helpful and accommodating - we received a warm welcome and throughout our two nights at the campsite we were well looked after. The toilet and shower facilities were kept clean and tidy throughout the day as well as the large field and hedges were well maintained, surrounded with beautiful scenery and a magnificent night sky. We travel as 4 friends this time but also I plan a return visit with my family and 2 year old son. The location for us is ideal as withing driving distance of plenty of activities/ restaurants/ beaches/ pubs /more. 100% will recommend to friends and family that just want to have a nice break away from it all in the peace full Pembrokeshire !

Local attractions

If you want to get in touch with your inner David Attenborough, start by visiting Pembrokeshire Alpaca Trekking (five minutes’ drive). In addition to walking alongside these friendly ruminants, you’ll also be able to feed them, pet them – and even buy them. For more animal encounters, check out the residents at Manor Wildlife Park (15 minutes). The seaside town of Tenby (15 minutes) has sandy beaches either side of a headland topped by a museum with local maritime artefacts, plus the ruins of a medieval castle. You can join a fishing charter from the harbour, or (at low tide) walk to St Catherine Island and check out a Napoleonic fort. Whether you’re after land- or water-based adventures, this corner of Pembrokeshire will deliver. Heatherton World of Activities (15 minutes) has a high ropes course and giant jumping pillows, while Wild Lakes Wales (25 minutes) is an aquatic park with an inflatable course and wakeboarding, plus indoor activities like bouldering.
