  • Peaceful, spacious site with sea views in the Glamorgan countryside
  • In Wick village, 15 minutes’ drive away from Llantwit Major Beach
  • Within walking distance of trails, country pubs, a park and a shop
Scouting for a stunning place in the countryside, not too far from the South Wales coast? West Ceffyl Glamping might be just what you were hoping for… Set in the village of Wick, this site stretches over five acres of Glamorgan countryside and is surrounded by fields with wildlife such as barn owls, red kites, bunny rabbits and songbirds. It’s also only a 15-minute drive from Llantwit Major Beach, and 10 minutes from Dunraven Bay and Ogmore-by-Sea (two more stunning coastal spots). But first, get to know the owners. The site is run by Gareth and Aimee, who have pledged to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They’re not too far away if you need any questions answered. Second, check out those views. A scan through the site’s gallery will reveal the sea views across the channel towards Exmoor and Ilfracombe, as well as stunning night skies and sunrises. Dogs and families are very welcome to stay at West Ceffyl Glamping. There is a village park with swings just a five-minute walk away. Several local footpaths show the way through the surrounding countryside or towards local beaches, and have plenty of splendid spots to see along the way including Blaen y Cwm Nature Reserve, coastal waterfalls and a little wood where kids can sit in handmade willow-tree shelters or pick their own fruit off the trees. When it’s time for a meal or a round of lemonade and beers, there are three country pubs and restaurants within walking distance which serve food and drinks and host regular entertainment. Wick’s shop and post office is also a short walk away should you want to send a postcard or grab a few forgotten bits.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We loved the location and the size of the pitches. We also loved the table and benches. It was exactly what we were looking for.

Disliked: There was a really bad smell in the toilets and there was no toilet paper.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi, Glad you enjoyed your stay. The toilets is due to the type of system it runs on, unfortunately has an odor to it occassionally. the toilet roll situation is madness... if i told you there were 2 rolls in each cubilcle before you came,,, think people think its covid again and just take them.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Lovely quiet location, loved the mown-in pitches, they were so spread out. Pitch had its own picnic table and we used our own barbeque. Owner very helpful and easy to contact. Toilets spotless and well lit at night. Good phone signal 😂 Will absolutely return! Cheers.

Disliked: Nothing.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We brought our own bell tent and stayed in one of the circular pitches. It was a really wonderful stay, the site is beautiful with long grasses and wildflowers, on a clear day you can see the sea as well. The nicest thing about it (and this is quite rare for a campsite!) is that the owners have kept a good amount of space between pitches, so you’re not crammed in and noone disturbs each other (though our neighbours were lovely) - it also keeps the unique wild atmosphere, with pitches mown into the wildflowers and little walkways in between with benches. The whole place has a really easy going vibe, and little things like being able to wash up our foodstuff and have a good hot pressure shower was really brilliant. We loved it and will certainly be back. I don’t know if there was wifi, so the 5 stars below isn’t based on anything, but I wouldn’t take away stars for this - because who needs wifi in a place like this? There’s enough phone signal to check the weather forecast and use maps to plan your walks :)

From the manager: Wow, thankyou guys. Thats exactly the vibe we are going for, and amazing to hear thats how you (like many others feel). Cheers, from West Ceffyl

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Made to feel so welcome by the owners, great communication and there if you needed anything. Great large pitches with big spaces between and very relaxing and calming atmosphere. Benches at every pitch. Logs and firepits available at additional cost, great added extra which we loved. Pubs in short walking distance.

Bell tent

Liked: Beautiful site, tents and equipment all brand new. Tent beautiful and clean and owners on site really helpful and friendly. Tents are lovely and spaced out so whilst there are others in the field, you have plenty of space around for kids to play. Dog friendly a bonus too!! Our kids loved it, including the football area would definitely be back!

Disliked: Nothing.
