  • Single hardstanding pitch set in peaceful Anglesey countryside
  • Benllech beach 10 minutes’ drive; Beaumaris Castle 20 minutes
  • Dark-skies site with pretty lake views and abundant wildlife
What’s it to be – blissful solitude, lovely views or a stunning night sky? No need to make any such decisions when you stay at Unique Camping on Anglesey, for you can have all three. Those of you who want to be alone will be pleased to hear that there’s only one pitch – an adults-only one at that – and it’s slap-bang in the middle of five rural acres with lake views. Even better, the campsite is in a dark-skies area, with startling starry displays on clear nights. Despite its apparent remoteness, the site is actually pretty accessible from the B5110 at Lon Bryn Mair, with an easy entrance for caravans or campervans through a suitably wide wooden gate. Once you’re ensconced on your hardstanding pitch, there’s plenty to see and do if you fancy just staying put for a bit. Go for lakeside strolls with any accompanying dogs, admire the wild flowers, hang around to see colourful sunsets and look out for the local barn owl swooping around at dusk. And when it’s time to go exploring, there are beaches, nature reserves and coast path walks all within 10 minutes’ drive.

Local attractions

You’re never too far from anywhere on Anglesey. If days on the beach are calling, there’s safe bathing at sandy Benllech, while Red Wharf Bay (both 10 minutes’ drive) is good for seafood pubs or spotting rare wild flowers, and Llanddona beach (25 minutes) is the spot for long, invigorating dog walks. On the west coast, Rhosneigr (also 25 minutes) is a popular hub for watersports. There’s plenty to see culture-wise too, from the handsome moated Beaumaris Castle (20 minutes) to guided tours of the formal plantings at Plas Newydd House and Gardens (25 minutes) – don’t miss the views over to Eryri, formerly Snowdonia. If nature is more your thing, learn about maritime conservation at Anglesey Sea Zoo (half an hour) or go looking for puffins at South Stack Cliffs on Holy Island (25 minutes). Prefer exploring on foot? Grab the hiking boots and set off into Newborough Forest (25 minutes), or be adventurous and strike out over a section of the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path from Moelfre (10 minutes).

FHU gravel and cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: This was a delightful find. We were camped next to a lily pond with an abundance of wildlife.

We saw buzzards, a kite, bats, various fish in the lake, damsel flies, Dragon flies, rabbits etc.

It was immaculately kept too.

The hard standing was level with EHU and water to hand with a view over the pond and lilies.

We will definitely be back to this one.
