Liked: Good location. Bus for kids to play on, which they loved and kept them busy. Relaxed atmosphere.

Disliked: No one was there when we arrived and it took a while for someone to great us. Toilet and showers are ok, but look a little tired and are not kept very clean.

Liked: The converted school bus was a great addition and my 5 year old loved pretending to be the driver. Toilet blocks were generally clean and there were no queues for showers at any time. The site were really helpful in placing our two families beside each other.

Disliked: Noise from other guests wasn’t great - I know it can just be bad luck who you are camping beside but there was a large group near us (two tourer caravans and two tents) who stayed up late each night - 5am, 3am and 4 am on each night. People forget that noise carries in a field!!

Liked: The location was great.

Disliked: The cleanliness of the site. It was disgusting. The pitches themselves were not cleaned between guests so there was litter on the ground and the washing up area was tired and dirty. The toilets and showers were on another level of disgusting. In one of the ladies toilets, a used tampon string remained on the floor throughout our 3 night stay. There was no hot water in the sinks to properly clean our hands. On the one night I braved the shower, I spent time cleaning it and even then, the only stuff left for us to use to clean was dirty. The mop bucket was filled with dirty water and the bins were overflowing. The showers themselves were OK but the drains were clogged meaning that the water spilled out into the main area after a few pushes. The play bus was a lovely touch but again, it was filthy. There was food, cans and packets all over the floor and underneath tables.

Liked: The play bus and bar setting

Disliked: The washing facilities, they needed more. The toilet/shower block needed attention, they were not clean! There was used toilet paper on the floor and wrappers, they had not been swept. The sinks were filthy and the showers were the same. To the point I could not bring myself to use them. And the mop and bucket water provided to clean the shower after use was black. I wish I hadn’t taken photos. The bins had not been emptied. It was a shame because with a bit more attention and cleanliness the site could be lovely.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: The site was clean , with good facilities…… lovely hot water in the showers at all times of day. The bar was great…. Everyone so friendly. The field we stayed in was flat enough not to need wedges for our camper van. BBQ permitted and dog friendly. Close enough to walk to beach … had a brilliant weekend there.

Disliked: Nothing at all!

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Friendly staff and owner, bar area was nice and food was good. If you have small children their is a bus with loads of games we're they can play which thought was good. Site clean and maintained, good distance to a couple of lovely beeches.

Disliked: Felt a bit clicky as seemed alot of people met up their alot. Think the caravan, tents and motor homes should be more mixed together and not all in specific sections. Alot of large groups together. Showers in mens seemed ok in ladies it only latest 10 seconds and had to keep pressing button. People used showers and over took the whole area in ladies toilets. Could do with more than 1 washing up area and washing machines

Liked: *New to camping* My grown up daughter, her dog and I stayed for 2 nights in a tent. The pitch was level and had a water tap and electric 16amp hook up. The area is quiet and rural. The nearest village is Aberdaron, aprox 3 miles away, this is a seaside village with a shop, spar, pub, ice cream and gift shops with a huge beach where dogs are allowed on. Pwllheli is a 30 min drive away. The camp site has a good sized clean shower and toilet block. There is a room for washing up. There is a patio area with tables and a small bar with a bar snacks and breakfast menu. Drinks and food are reasonably prices. Accepts card or cash payments. The owner was friendly and helpful. There is an old school bus on site with an air hockey table and giant jenga. WiFi worked in our tent. We wanted a quiet and relaxed weekend and that was exactly what we got. We would recommend this site.

Local attractions

Hidden and secluded beaches are plentiful around the peninsula, including the site's nearest of Whistling Sands a short drive away. Managed by the National Trust, this peaceful beach is also home to a good variety of wildlife such as razorbills, shags and kittiwakes, as well as seals (best spotted while bodyboarding in the waves) and – with luck – dolphins. Pick up a wildlife trail leaflet at the beach cabin in spring and summer to see what you can spot. Also close by, take the boat to Bardsey Island for more wildlife watching: the isle is famed as a a nesting site for Manx shearwaters and choughs, and seals and dolphins can usually be spotted in the surrounding waters. Take one of the marked paths around the island to explore, or drop into Bardsey's school for an exhibit on Bardsey Island history and community.
