Ty Bach 1 bedroom lodge

Liked: Loved the site and the friendly staff. There was an excellent play park if you have kids which is right next to the field of sheep, donkeys and llamas.

Disliked: Rented one of the lodges (Ty Bach) which was well equipped and had everything we needed, however it was let down by the fairly strong damp musty smell. That was a shame as it was otherwise lovely.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Location was amazing, views incredible. Facilities were very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Donkeys are very hungry 😁. Great place, booked to go back twice!

Disliked: I think in the summer when the camp is busy there will not be enough toilets or shower facilities available

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Beautiful view, lovely toilets and showers.

Disliked: WIFI doesn't reach the whole campsite - miscommunication on the website. You can't park your car next to every pitch - doesn't state that on the website Fire pits are dreadful, and you have to pay for them instead on putting deposits down. Worse fire pits we have ever seen. So disappointing because we couldn't cook on the pit.

From the manager: Dear Anonymous, Thanks for your review. Just for the record you can park next to your pitch on all pitches unless you have a camp fire where we ask you to park in front of the tent for safety reasons. I am sorry this was not explained to you. Wifi is patchy on the site especially when we are very busy like this Bank holiday weekend. We are sorry to have inconvenienced you. Regards Len

Local attractions

The surrounding area has heaps to see and do alongside the rambles, coastlines and castles: if you get a bit stuck for choice, ask the family for their top picks. Within a short drive are Surf Snowdonia in Conway, Zip World in Bethesda (home to Velocity, the fastest zipline in the world and the longest in Europe), the treetop nets of Bounce Below, Zip World Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog and GreenWood Forest Park a family adventure park in Y Felinheli. Rather conveniently, one of Wales's top attractions is less than five miles from Tyn Yr Onnen Farm, the National Slate Museum in Llanberis, where kids can get stuck into the story of the country's mining heritage amid talks and demos, quarrymen's houses and interactive play activities. Llanberis village is where many set out to climb Snowdon as the Llanberis Path begins here, winding up the least taxing route (we'll point out again that the Snowdon Mountain Railway goes to the top too). The village is also a popular place for adventurous activities like kayaking, coasteering, scuba diving, mountain biking, pony trekking and high ropes courses. Another popular pull of these parts is the Dinorwig Power Station or Electric Mountain: take an underground tour, set the kids free to play in the den, or test your wits in the Genius Corner puzzle room.
