  • Site on a vegetable farm five miles from Eryri (Snowdonia)
  • A 15-minute drive to Llanberis for a trail to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)
  • A sheltered field with access to a small forest; farm shop on site
Begin your adventures in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) and Ynys Mon (Anglesey) at Tyddyn Teg Campsite. Based on a regenerative vegetable farm, the site is just five miles from the edge of Eryri National Park. The farm is in the capable hands of a cooperative, and they’ve made one of the fields available for guests to sit back, relax and take full advantage of the peaceful surroundings of the farm and woodland. It's a family-friendly site, next door to a little forest which is kept as untouched wildland and has a small path through to oak trees and a stream. Handily, events are often organised by the site, and if you also envisage your future self tucking into some lovely locally-sourced food, this is the spot for it too. The farm shop is open to guests, and sells freshly harvested products, products from other local producers and organic products from further afield. For an evening out at the pub or a takeaway, just make your way to the nearby villages within five minutes’ drive of the farm. There’s no forgetting about Eryri National Park, of course. It’s a 15-minute drive from the farm to Llanberis village, where a nine-mile path begins up to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). The next day, prop those well-exercised feet up on Dinas Dinlle beach, 20 minutes’ drive away.

Bell tent (four person)

Liked We LOVED the bell tent, all of the small touches (Aglaé had thought of everything), the feeling of privacy afforded by the pitches being spread out/separated by woodland, the cleanliness, the on-site shop, just all of it. We've discussed making a trip there an annual thing as we're so taken with it!

From the manager: Thanks Leah, it was a pleasure to have you and the kids, and we would love to have you back every year!

Liked Brilliant campsite for families. Great location for Anglesey or Snowdonia. Super on site shop with delicious bread, fruit and veg, milk etc. Generous camping pitches with space between your neighbours.

Primitive grass tent campsite (four person)

Liked Beautiful eco friendly site, very clean and quiet. Great location for Snowdonia, Anglesey, Caernarfon, etc

Disliked Every time I tried to use the shower it was either uncomfortably hot or freezing cold. It was fine for my partner so possibly just bad luck on my part.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much for your feedback Heather. We are sorry you were unlucky with the showers, we know they are a bit temperamental and our coworker Jamie is going to have a look at them to improve them in the next couple of weeks. So we hope that this issue will be sorted for next season.

Again, sorry you were unlucky with them, we hope you would still like to come again anyway and try our new showers next year!

Primitive grass tent campsite (ten person)

Liked We had the loveliest week at Tyddyn Teg. Everyone on the site was so friendly and open to talk about the amazing community they have built.
The toilets, shower and kitchen were cleaned everyday and were spotless. The kitchen facilities were really good, and had everything you could need.
It was super child friendly too. Both of my children absolutely loved exploring and playing on the trampoline.
The farm shop on site is really handy too. It was really nice to have access to fresh produce and freshly baked sourdough bread.
Thank you so much for a lovely week. We will definately be back next year. Our new favourite north wales site!

From the manager: Thank you so much for your very nice feedback Courtney, we loved having you around and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon, to have more chats around the fire and trampoline fun times!

Bell tent (four person)

Liked The tent was great, clean and comfy. The kids had great fun toasting marshmallows over the fire bit and it was nice to have everything all set up to be able to do a BBQ. And the little farm shop was nice too. Trampoline by the kitchen was a magnet for all the kids on the site and they had lots of fun. Eco toilet was kept clean and showers were nice and warm.

Disliked Pitches were slightly closer together than I had expected

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for all your kind words.

We are sorry you thought our pitches were slightly closer together than expected. We try to make our pitches large enough for people to have enough room on them so they do take quite a lot of space. However, as the site is new, their hedges are still quite low and I believe that once they have grown a bit the pitch will feel more separated and even more private than now.

Bell tent (four person)

Liked Very well thought out campsite and well equipped. I stayed in a Bell tent which was really comfortable and was as close to home luxury as you can get in a tent. The site has toilets, brilliant showers, well equipped communal kitchen and a well stocked shop selling local products at a fair price.

Each plot is spacious and layed out so you all have your private space but you can come together at a site campfire or in the kitchen.

Disliked Nothing to dislike even if I was to be very picky. Will be back next year if not sooner.

Primitive grass tent campsite (four person)

Liked Great quiet campsite, only 10 pitches with wildflower meadow inbetween each meaning some privacy and nobody constantly walking near your tent. Very friendly atmosphere and attracts other campers that enjoy the chilled friendly vibe. The staff were so nice and chatty, Dafydd is lovely - they go out of their way to make sure you're ok and go above and beyond to help you out, they also have great local knowledge if you don't know the area that well.

Great kitchen with fab, clean facilities (although the freezer is not very cold for the ice packs). Because there's only 10 pitches it doesnt get too busy and theres plenty of space.

2 toilets and 2 showers, showers are fantastic and really clean and creatively done. Composting toilets were fairly clean and great idea but some people really struggled to use them properly despite the clear instructions so they could be a bit stinky by the end of the day.

Location wise this place is faultless. So close to the centre of Eryri, the llŷn peninsula and anglesey. 15 minute bike ride or less than 10 mins in the car into Llanberis. Just off the bypass and super easy to find.

The on site farm shop is full of stuff produced on site and is self service and doesn't seem to close. Also a good range of organic essentials and the homemade bread is delicious.

100% will come again

Disliked Some people struggled with the toilets but not really the campsites fault!

From the manager: Hi Jessica,

Thanks for the comprehensive review, we appreciate that! And glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us, and the atmosphere of the campsite.

We acknowledge your feedback on some of our facilities too. We do give each set of guests an introduction to how to use our facilities (including the compost toilets), remind all guests to keep our facilities tidy, and of course we clean them regularly. But thank you for your comments - we're always looking for ways to improve our site, so we will take this into account!

Thanks again for visiting us, and we hope to see you again in the future!

Primitive grass tent campsite (eight person)

Liked Pretty camping field with great facilities. The site has a genuine eco focus and relaxed vibe. Everything was really well organised and maintained in a low impact way. We found the farm shop really convenient; open all hours for cold milk, fresh bread, veg produce and chocolate treats. We stayed for a week as a family group and were able to book a pitch for all of us with multiple tents together. Everyone loved the campsite!

Disliked Not much to access on foot directly from the site (though a good variety of places to visit in the area by car).

Local attractions

The Menai Bridge (15 minutes’ drive) is your gateway to Ynys Mon (Anglesey), with its wild coves and ancient historic sites. Beaumaris (25 minutes) is especially beckoning for those who like history, as it has a 13th-century moated castle and Victorian punishment cells. Bangor (15 minutes), just after the Menai Bridge, has its fair share of history too. Cathedral, castle, museum – tick, tick, tick. Further on, sample the gins and whiskies of the Aber Falls Distillery (15 minutes). Of course, you may very well want to fit in a trip to Caernarfon Castle (10 minutes) when you’re so close by. Placed on the banks of the river Seiont, the castle is a prominent castle from the Middle Ages (and of course, the cafés and shops of Caernarfon are sure to look very inviting after you’ve finished touring it).
