  • Site on a vegetable farm five miles from Eryri (Snowdonia)
  • A 15-minute drive to Llanberis for a trail to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)
  • A sheltered field with access to a small forest; farm shop on site
Begin your adventures in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) and Ynys Mon (Anglesey) at Tyddyn Teg Campsite. Based on a regenerative vegetable farm, the site is just five miles from the edge of Eryri National Park. The farm is in the capable hands of a cooperative, and they’ve made one of the fields available for guests to sit back, relax and take full advantage of the peaceful surroundings of the farm and woodland. It's a family-friendly site, next door to a little forest which is kept as untouched wildland and has a small path through to oak trees and a stream. Handily, events are often organised by the site, and if you also envisage your future self tucking into some lovely locally-sourced food, this is the spot for it too. The farm shop is open to site guests, and sells freshly harvested products, products from other local producers and organic products from further afield. For an evening out at the pub or a takeaway, just make your way to the nearby villages within five minutes’ drive of the farm. There’s no forgetting about Eryri National Park, of course. It’s a 15-minute drive from the farm to Llanberis village, where a nine-mile path begins up to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). The next day, prop those well-exercised feet up on Dinas Dinlle beach, 20 minutes’ drive away.

What customers say

This eco-friendly campsite boasts a peaceful, natural setting with private, well-spaced pitches. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, the kitchen is well-equipped, and the farm shop is a real treat. Facilities are generally clean and well-maintained, though minor issues with the access road and shower temperature are being addressed. Great base for exploring Snowdonia.

Primitive grass tent campsite (six person)

Liked Everything. The pitches were great, as they were spacious, flat and well spread out. The kitchen had everything you needed to and the compost toilets and hot showers were clean and really well maintained. The site was perfectly located to travel to the coast, to the mountains and to Anglesey. Couldn't have asked for a better well-tended campsite run by a community of people that really care about the land.

Disliked Nothing.

Primitive grass tent campsite (four person)

Liked Wonderful site and staff.
We were asked to phone when we arrived and once we did, we were given a short but useful and informative tour of the site by Dafydd.
The shop is self service and on a later day we were shown around fields where they grow their food.
We had plans for the week but the heat made us change them and we were given recommendations which were great choices.
We explored a little of the woods attached to the site and the team were working to make them more accessible. Whilst we were there a new path was being put in so I would expect it to be a much easier walk through the woods soon.
The cars can't be parked by the pitch but there are wheelbarrows to help move everything, even without those, the pitch is immediately next to the car park.

From the manager: Hi James,

Glad to hear you both enjoyed your stay, and thanks for the kind and helpful review with some of the updates going on around our farm. Was lovely to give you a short tour of the growing areas too.

Enjoy your summer, and hopefully we might see you again sometime!

Liked Very peaceful and quiet.
The onsite shop was well stocked with produce and other items.
All shared facilities were well maintained and clean.
You are given an excellent 1:1 orientation and introduction on arrival and support is on hand throughout the day.
The site is reasonably child friendly, but if you have very young children then be aware it is a working farm and the site itself is not fenced off.

Disliked One issue is the unpaved access road - be wary if your car is low.

From the manager: Hi there,

Thanks very much for your review. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the site, facilities, and our farm shop, and that the arrival introduction was helpful.

Thanks for letting us know about your experience of the access track. We're aware it affects some vehicles more than others, and we do advise travelling slowly when entering and leaving the farm. We are also in the process of improving the access track this year, so hopefully it won't be an issue if you happen to visit us again!

Regarding access around the farm and young children, thank you for raising this point as well. We do advise all guests to remain within the realm of the campsite and woodland, and to supervise young children when walking to the shop through the main farmyard. We also offer free guided walking tours around the farm to all guests (providing a campsite staff member is available to do so), which does provide an option for children to see other parts of the farm in a safe and welcoming manner.

I hope that addresses some of your concerns, but do feel free to get in touch with us directly if you'd like to discuss them any further.

Diolch yn fawr!

Primitive grass tent campsite (four person)

Liked This campsite is gorgeous. It's small at only around 10 pitches, but these are all set out in a good spread around the field with bushes and wildflowers between so you feel properly amongst the nature and have great privacy - very unlike a lot of campsites which are essentially a large open field. Wheelbarrows are provided to help get your belongings over from the car and if you arrive during standard hours you are met for a quick tour and explanation of how everything works. There is a practically complete kitchen on site that you're welcome to use and borrow items from - absolutely no need for us to use the camping stove we brought along. The compostable toilets are the best I have ever seen and kept very clean and tidy. The showers are the nicest I've had on a campsite and a pleasure to use - they are also kept very clean and are genuinely properly warm. On site there is a shop full of fresh produce, some canned/tinned goods, everyday essentials and even a selection of books. This can be used anytime and has a card machine and honesty box setup so you can serve yourself. Aglaé was really helpful and friendly.
We came up from Dorset for just 2 nights and used Tyddyn Teg as a base for climbing Snowdon. This was ideal - only a short drive to the Nant Peris Park & Ride for Pen-y-Pass in the morning and also only a short drive into Caernarfon for a big recovery dinner in the evening. Tyddyn Teg Campsite is easy to find - if we are ever in the area again we will 100% be back!

Liked Our pitch was surrounded by beautiful flower and the farm itself isn't too far from both towns and nature spots.

We also rated all the extras: communal kitchen / washing up area, farm shop with quality produce, and the availability of raised fire pits & firewood.

Local attractions

The Menai Bridge (15 minutes’ drive) is your gateway to Ynys Mon (Anglesey), with its wild coves and ancient historic sites. Beaumaris (25 minutes) is especially beckoning for those who like history, as it has a 13th-century moated castle and Victorian punishment cells. Bangor (15 minutes), just after the Menai Bridge, has its fair share of history too. Cathedral, castle, museum – tick, tick, tick. Further on, sample the gins and whiskies of the Aber Falls Distillery (15 minutes). Of course, you may very well want to fit in a trip to Caernarfon Castle (10 minutes) when you’re so close by. Placed on the banks of the river Seiont, the castle is a prominent castle from the Middle Ages (and of course, the cafés and shops of Caernarfon are sure to look very inviting after you’ve finished touring it).
