  • Secluded and spacious wild camping for adults only with mountain views
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Caernarfon and Bangor
  • A mile from Llanddeiniolen village centre and its pub
Surrounded by peaceful greenery and fields grazed by cows and sheep, Gwyndy Campsite is an excellent adults-only location for quiet camping breaks within easy reach of the North Wales coast and the uplands of Snowdonia National Park. Mountains, including Snowdon, can be seen from the site, and in this very rural location there's plenty of space to spread out, relax and enjoy the view. The pitches are located in a spacious field of just over two acres, bordered by a five-acre forest that's crossed by a small stream. No facilities are available on site, so you'll have to bring your own toilet facilities or make arrangements elsewhere, but in return you get a little patch of blissfully peaceful Welsh countryside to call your own for the duration of your stay. While Gwyndy Campsite is far from busy roads and urban activity, handily it's just under a mile from the small village of Llanddeiniolen and its pub, which is open for meals and drinks throughout the week. For anything else, you can reach the larger towns of Caernarfon and Bangor by road within a quarter of an hour's drive – both have plenty of shops, supermarkets and restaurants as well as historic buildings, great seascapes and top visitor attractions.

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Graham (Host) was absolutely amazing, couldn't thank him enough for his hospitality, great guy. And will revisit again for certain. He made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. If your looking for a quiet campsite in Bethel or the surrounding areas which us close to amenities then this campsite is ideal. So we arrived and couldnt be anymore happier with the location and quality of the campsite. My mate and I drove to Caernarfon, great town shops, pubs, tescos etc. We completed Snowdonia and distance was roughly 15 minutes drive from campsite. Kind Regards Guy and Rich

Disliked: Nothing..

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: I went to Gwyndy as an escape from the city and to see the stars - I loved the bit of piece and quiet I had on my night there. I didn't get to see the stars but that was my fault - I was too exhausted after a day of walking. There was a busy service station about ten minutes away by car (maybe less, can't quite remember) - with all the usual services/inc Greggs, Subway, Sainsburys. Graham the owner introduced himself in the evening - a friendly man. I'd return and reccomend.

Disliked: nothing I disliked

Local attractions

For thrill-seekers, there's the chance to zoom down zipwires at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (20 minutes' drive), where you can take in spectacular panoramas over the local landscape from 5,000 feet up in the air (if you're brave enough to open your eyes). A head for heights will also come in handy at the Beacon Climbing Centre (15 minutes) on the outskirts of Caernarfon, or for that matter if you climb up Snowdon (just over 20 minutes to the nearest car park). Less extreme activities are also here in abundance, whether you like the look of spending the day by the sea at Llandudno (35 minutes), are drawn to the castles at Caernarfon (15 minutes) and Conwy (30 minutes) or fancy a relaxing stroll around the grounds of Plas Newydd (15 minutes), a National Trust property overlooking the Menai Strait.
