Lovely location
Out side of pub and campsite don’t be fooled by the look it was a shambles

  • Five-acre site overlooking the Vale of Llangollen
  • Only half a mile from the beautiful Horseshoe Pass
  • An ideal location from which to visit Snowdonia National Park
Seeking a scenic setting close to the countryside for dawdles around Denbighshire…? Then set your sights on a stay at Abbey Grange Campsite, on a five-acre site in front of The Abbey Grange Hotel and overlooking the pretty Vale of Llangollen. Surrounded by fields and mountains, this park is half a mile from the well-known Horseshoe Pass and is a convenient base for exploring the immediate hilly surrounds or taking on treks in Snowdonia National Park (a 40-minute drive). Chances to climb, cycle, mountain bike, fish and golf are also around the local area – just ask on site for the lowdown. At the park, charging facilities are on hand for ensuring your GPS has enough batteries for when you’re out and about exploring the region, whether shopping in Llangollen, five minutes’ drive away, for food to bring back and grill up on the barbecue or ambling to the Cistercian Valley Crucis Abbey (less than a 10-minute walk). On your homecoming from hikes or other similarly energetic activities, hotel facilities such as the restaurant and bar are accessible for cosying up with a pint or a meal, and there's an outdoor play area to keep the kids busy. The site has male and female shower and toilet amenities, plus chemical disposal facilities.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Town close by Nice enough location

Disliked: Curfew unenforced (We had a family pitched next to us playing music until 1 am.) Facilities need updating ( The toilets are a bit grim even when freshly cleaned) Pub overpriced just off a main road so can be abit loud

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Good location, beautiful scenery, cheap. Some flat pitches. A park for younger children. Relaxed

Disliked: Only 4 toilets, unclean and unloved. Feels like the owners have given up. A good tidy up of the grounds, clear up broken glass and litter, empty the bins and a bit of maintenance/refurb of the toilets would make a huge difference.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Excellent Location.

Disliked: No enforcement of rules. Loud music played till 2am both nights. Cars coming and going till early hours. Dogs off leads interrupting young children trying to eat food.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: The location was great, scenic walk into Llangollen.

Disliked: The facilities were not good. It was a big campsite, with electrical points and non electrical. They had 4 shower cubicles with a toilet and another cabin with a few toilets in. There were always queues outside the toilets.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Site is close to lots of walks, ample space, pub, toilets and showers on site

Disliked: Having to pay for things like awning as extras (why do tents get a vehicle plus 1 tent but I'm in a vehicle yet have to pay for awning?? Never got that, taking up the same if not less space but costs me more!) Pub had signs for carvery Sunday lunch but when we went in at 3.30pm were told it was bookings only, no signs to advise in advance so we could have booked. Was told where to park which was on a steep slope, rather than choose a spot on a flatter area that others set up in later.

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: The staff seemed friendly enough and helpful.

Disliked: The site was in a poor state of repair. The showers and toilets need a complete refurbishment and a good clean they where filthy. Disused office equipment lay strewn around a disused static caravan. It was expensive considering the facilities. We left a day early

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The location

Disliked: Poor administration of the site, glass on the roadway by the toilet block. 4 toilets and integrated showers for the whole site, not enough by far. Would be far better with pitched marked out and a plan of the site. Needs much better toilet/shower block and cleaner better washing up facilities. Could then justify the cost.
