  • Rural site on a family-run working farm in Llandrinio
  • A 10-minute drive to Welshpool; 35 minutes to Lake Vyrnwy
  • Severn Way passes through the farm; local pub a few minutes' walk
Perhaps you’re planning a long-distance hike, or maybe you’re more of a leisure stroller… either way, Trinio Camping is in a most handy spot for all sorts of rural walks. This friendly family-run Mid Wales farm site is in the little village of Llandrinio, surrounded by gorgeous Powys countryside and with views up to Admiral Rodney’s Pillar and Breidden Hill. It’s a laidback place with pitches across several paddocks and simple facilities in the form of toilets, showers, chemical disposal and a washing-up area. Getting out to explore on foot could barely be easier, as the Offa’s Dyke Path is close by and the Severn Way passes right through the fields on site. If you’ve got other outdoor pursuits in mind, quad biking, golf, go karting, paintballing, horse riding, mountain biking and watersports are all nearby too, and there are plenty of fishing spots, castles, gardens and historic buildings around for those seeking a quieter time. Although this is a properly rural site, it’s not hidden away down lots of little winding lanes, so getting out and about should be straightforward. Having the A483 nearby means you can get to Welshpool in about 10 minutes and Oswestry in 15; heading over the border to Shrewsbury should take only a little longer at about 25 minutes. Closer to home, a few minutes’ walk will get you up to the village centre for a popular local pub and a well-stocked shop where you can pick up all the bits you need for a picnic or an evening by your barbecue.

Liked really liked how well-maintained the grass electric hook-up pitch was. It was spacious enough to set up comfortably and the ground was in good condition, which made a big difference over the two-night stay. Having access to the electric hook-up was very convenient and worked reliably throughout.

The campsite itself was clean, tidy, and had a calm, relaxed atmosphere, which made it easy to unwind. The facilities were well looked after and easy to access, and everything felt organised and welcoming. Overall, it was a peaceful and comfortable place to stay, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Liked Lovely family-run site. Signage is clear, making it easy to find the site and wait in the correct area to be checked in. Louise was friendly & helpful and made the whole process of arriving completely stress-free. She's also available by phone or text if you have any queries during your stay. I think we also met her partner at various times during our stay, he was also extremely friendly and approachable.

The site itself is well placed, with lots of countryside walks available nearby. There's also a lovely small pub (which also has an Indian restaurant in the evening, which we're told is excellent) and large a Spar shop/petrol station down the road - all easily reachable on foot.

Pitches are well sized, fairly flat and the EHU was at the rear of our pitch, easily reached by our cable. The facilities are clean, modern and didn't appear to be oversubscribed during our weekend - even though I'd say 80% of the pitches were occupied during the Bank Holiday. The site is also quiet, even the large group of young adults went silent once everyone else had gone to bed. Dogs on leads/tethers are welcome, and most people stick to the rules - only one family let theirs roam free during our visit, but thankfully it didn't come over to our nervous little dog. Kids also seem to enjoy their time, with plenty of space for ball games and other activities.

BBQs & fire pits are allowed, and they also have a good stack of bricks for you to raise your fires/BBQs off the ground to protect the grass.

We'd highly recommend Trinio if you'd like somewhere in the countryside surrounded by nature. My wife was particularly fond of the lambs being raised in the field next to the campsite!

This was our second ever trip in our campervan and we had a wonderful time here. Thanks Louise & family!

Liked Amazing location just shy of an hour from Shrewsbury. Multiple supermarkets nearby. Lovely walking trails no need to drive.
The campsite itself lovely owners who own the working farm next to the camping field. Lovely welcome and a call/text away if any issues (which we didn’t have). Toilets clean and well lit. Showers decent and clean. Friendly sheep in next field. Fresh tap water available to all pitches. I had electric hookup which has no faults. Pitches are well groomed and good condition and size. We went on last weekend of 6 weeks holiday and surprisingly wasn’t busy only a couple of pitches taken. So a good location and camp site if want to escape but still be close to shops etc.
I would definitely visit again when I’m after a camping trip without the long travel (1hr 40m from me) main toilet block has one indoor toilet and one shower block and a mini sink area. This block also has a kitchen with fridge/freezer and washing up area. Outside this block is a unisex shower unit and an outdoor washing area this has hot water.

Disliked The outside shower has been done up lovely - lovely big shower head and new tiles however this is a cool/cold shower only as it is in an outside hut. The shower in the indoor female not as “done up” but warm water supplied. So if you want the decent shower but compromise with the cold water outside. Or the less appealing shower but warm water. But both usable and I’d be happy to shower in either.

Liked The Views were very nice, the staff were polite and quick to meet you on arrival. The facilities were modern clean and functional. The pitches are large and flat. A great pub serving amazing Indian food a short walk away.

Disliked We was really disappointed with the lack of ablutions. For the men the only option for a sink wash was a tiny hand basin next to a urinal or the same in the toilet. There was only two toilets and one urinal available throughout the stay, so made busy periods testing. The only other option was to use one of the two showers to brush your teeth or wash your face. The women seem to have been catered for better with an actual sink and few more showers.
Non of the taps or showers had actual hot water, it was all running warm regardless of the time of day.
No hand dryers or paper towels, if you use the toilets and wash your hands take your own towl.
Road noise is quite an issue here ( not the camp sites fault) the site is right on a busy road, the traffic lights controlling the single lane traffic over the bridge seem to be used as race track starting light at the weekend, we hoped this calmed down by night fall, but didn't ease until 2300.

From the manager: Thank you for your review & we are glad you enjoyed the views & local area. We apologies if the facilities were not to your liking. This particular weekend the facilities were more than adequate for the 7 pitches on site, with no queues observed. Available were 5 toilets & a urinal, all 6 having their own wash hand basin & hand wash, & also 3 showers & 4 larger sinks for cleansing &/or washing up, all with hot water at a safe temperature so as not to scald young children. There was a shared hand drier available, however, most campers bring their own towels, toiletries & personal essentials when cleansing, but if anyone forgets an item we always try to help out if we can. Our cut grass pitch prices have been fairly costed out based on the amount of people, pets & electric hook up & they all have use of the clean facilities & powerful showers (at no extra cost).

Liked Fantastic couple of days away!
The facilities were clean and tidy, and the owners were very relaxed and helpful. There are some lovely walks in the area, and a pub just a 15–20 minute walk away. We stayed in our campervan on the main field without a hookup, and the owners kindly arranged a second pitch so our friends could set up their tent next to us. A great experience all around!

Local attractions

Spotted Breidden Hill from the site? Head over to take a closer look – it’s only about 10 minutes away by car and has a circular walking route to follow. For other walks nearby, take a stroll through Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) or seek out the waterfall trail to Pistyll Rhaeadr (35 minutes). Lake Vyrnwy (35 minutes) is another fine place for a walk, either taking the lakeside route or following the sculpture trail, and it also has watersports activities including kayaking and windsurfing. And if all of that sounds a bit exhausting, maybe a ride on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (25 minutes) will suit? For different days out, have a taste of local history with visits to Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes) and Chirk Castle (half an hour) or board a canal boat to float across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (half an hour). The sculpture trails at the British Ironwork Centre (20 minutes) make for a fascinating outing too.
