Liked: Thank you for a great two night break, customer service was great, great location next to the falls and the steam train (which were both beautiful). We will return next time we're in Wales

Liked: Fabulous location for Devils Bridge. Best showers and facilities by far. Cafe at the entrance did a lovely breakfast and we had a very nice meal in the local hotel. Went on the steam train to Aberystwyth, a bit pricey but well worth it. Felt invigorated for the rest of our road trip in Wales.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Everything. Huge, wide and long pitches. Well spaced. Facilities block is one of the nicest we've seen and spotlessly clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location for Devils Bridge and the steam railway to Aberystwyth.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Liked: Lovely welcome from staff at reception. Touring site large and nestled amongst the trees with great views of the hills. Had a spacious gravel pitch for the campervan. The toilet and shower block are super, bright, clean and modern. Easy short walk to the onsite cafe and Devils Bridge waterfalls are a 10 minute walk away. Fantastic site and would say one of the best we have stayed at. Will plan to return soon.

Disliked: We were at a pitch furthest away from the WiFi so the signal was poor at busy times. My EE signal was OK but husbands Vodafone had no reception.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, we look forwards to seeing you soon :) Yes the WiFi can be weaker when we are at our busiest, sorry this affected you. The phone signals we get up here are EE and 3 and please be aware that you are more than welcome to use the telephone in the office if needed.

A very tidy, well managed site, with high quality facilities.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely surroundings. Proximity to pub, steam railway and waterfalls. Level pitch, very good toilet/shower facilities.

Disliked: Tea rooms could have been open longer (930am-4pm) and the shop would have been better with a broader range of essential items - bread? Wifi was patchy. No public transport available (other than expensive steam railway), so worth bearing in mind if travelling without access to own daily transport.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review Woodland, we are glad you enjoyed the site. Unfortunately there is no public transport to/from Devils Bridge, this has been an issue for the village, as I'm sure you can imagine, and this has been raised with the Bus company in the area in the hope to reinstate the service to the village, watch this space..... The tea rooms are not run by the campsite, please find them on trip advisor if you wish to leave a review. Unfortunately the free Wi-Fi can be affected by the weather etc, we are sorry if this was the case on your stay.

Liked: Lovely, well kept site in scenic area. Excellent shower block facilities. Friendly, helpful staff. Only had 1 meal from the tea room but it was delicious - the all-day breakfast! Good signal from the free wifi most of the time.

Disliked: Couldn't get any TV reception which was not surprising considering the site's location amongst the hills but we had DVDs and a tablet so no great hardship. A shop selling a few basic foodstuffs and maybe some camping essentials would be useful as the nearest supermarkets etc are some distance away.

Liked: The facilities are excellent. Lovely location. Within walking distance to the bridge and waterfall and hotel

Disliked: Nothing .the site is excellent and we will definitely visit again We did encounter an issue where another camper had pitched on our allocated plot number but the staff dealt with it swiftly and tactfully so not a problem

Local attractions

The Devils Bridge Falls and the Three Bridges nature trail walk are only about a quarter of a mile from Woodlands Caravan Park and are – cleverly – the things most guests go for first. The Vale of Rheidol Steam Train and the Hafod Arms Hotel & Bar are both within the same distance away. Four miles away are four top west Wales attractions for all types: the daily red kite feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forestry Centre; its mountain bike trail; the guided walks and wooded landscape of the Hafod estate; and the Silver Mountain Experience, a day out among the old mines, streams and forests of the Cambrian mountains. The Elan Valley, 15 miles away, is an essential site for Welsh wildlife and is often called the Welsh Lake District: head here for the Elan Valley Reservoirs and the only purpose-built arts and crafts mini village in Wales. Or if you fancy the beach, the sands of Borth beach and the sand dunes of Ynys Las are within 15 and 17 miles. Another beach is at nearby Aberystwyth, along with its famed Constitution Hill, Camera Obscura and cliff railway, and the Magic of Life Butterfly House, with hundreds of butterflies, heaps of giant caterpillars, odd insects and walks (and more waterfalls) in the Rheidol Valley. If the kids like this, take them along too to Fantasy Farm Park, 19 miles away.
