  • Peaceful park next to the River Forth, two miles from Aberfoyle
  • In Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a half-hour drive from Stirling
  • Well-kept pitches with direct access to Loch Ard Forest; dogs welcome
If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Campsite as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests. And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you. The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

Powered grass and gravel campsite

Liked: Me and my partner booked a pitch at Cobleland Campsite to stay on a Saturday and leave on Sunday morning. We had brought a car, a two man tent and had booked a spot that had an electric post. We had a very warm welcome to the site where the locations of facilities was explained and we were given a map of the campsite. Our pitch was placed on the right side of the park so we were closer to the toilets, shower block and sinks for washing dirty dishes. The left side had its own benifits as it was next to the river there was more privicey, as there was less foot traffic, and a little less noise. The toilets were immaculate and looked very modern, felt almost luxurious for campsite toilets. The showers were a little more what I expected, a small sandy coulored tiled room, but really good water pressure and nice and warm, white shower curtain which looked clean, nice and small so plenty of showers available. Three deep sinks for washing dirty dishes, again good access to warm water. Bin area with plenty of bins for recycling, area was clean and oder free, I was there on a very busy and hot day. All the facilities were placed on ground raised from the campsite itself, near enough for easy access but far enough away that people aren't getting in each other's way. There was two taps for drinking water place at either side of the main path, a play park for kids and a takeaway cafe that sold rolls and hot drinks. On the night we went there was a pizza van on the campsite in the evening. We had brought a BBQ which we were able to use on the stone on our pitch but would probably had to of used the road if we had booked a grass pitch as we hadn't brought any bricks to protect the grass. Really well placed had, we a nice drive to near by walks and there is a very pleasant was at the campsite. A lot of families with kids so campsite was pretty quiet by 9pm, I was asleep for half 9 and awake for about 8:30am. My partner slept till about 9:30 which was fine as check out wasn't until 11am, we left about 10:30 to climb the near by Benn A'nn. Check in was at 1pm. Really enjoyed out time on the campsite, very well priced for what you get. We plan to revisit soon as there is a few walks in that area that me and my partner would like to do and it's good to get away.

Powered grass and gravel campsite

Liked: fantastic campsite! clean, well organised, drinking water on hand, super clean toilets, nice hot showers, plenty of space around the campsite, full booked but not crowded at all, everyone has their own space and designated pitch with is superb. Small kids running around, nice play area for them was a good touch. Small shop with coffee and breakfast rolls, some essentials to buy, even pizza trailer arrived on Saturday night, which was a bonus. 100% recommend. we already booked another camping here :)
