Have a gander at the inside during a guided tour and, when parliament is in session, watch the political goings-on from the public gallery. For other types of visual entertainment, spend evenings at one of the theatres or comedy clubs in the city – Edinburgh’s known for its thriving arts scene – then follow up with a couple of nightcaps in bars around the Grassmarket (15 minutes).
