  • Peaceful farm setting with great views and nearby motorway access
  • Five minutes' drive from Cairn Lodge services; Lanark 15 minutes
  • Pretty views over the countryside; shop within half a mile
Collierhall Farm is only about a mile from the M74, making this pretty site in southern Scotland a good spot for overnight layovers as well as longer breaks. The pitches here are well-maintained, level and surrounded by rural views; everything is a short walk from the site's well-maintained toilet, shower and water supply facilities. About five minutes' drive away is Cairn Lodge service station, where a farm shop and restaurant are available for travellers looking for a quick pitstop. There is also the nearby village of Rigside, the centre of which is about half a mile away and which can be reached on foot, where guests have access to a takeaway and convenience store. Lanark, a historic town that's home to the Falls of Clyde rapids and a great UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site, is about 15 minutes from base by road. In addition, you can reach Glasgow in 35 minutes or Edinburgh in an hour via the scenic tourist route. The English border and the northern reaches of Cumbria are an hour away to the south.

Liked The chickens running around the campsite was great for the kids.

Disliked It was overcrowded with about 10 foot between tents.
The toilet/shower blocks (2 of them) were like a builders yard toilets and as the toilet was in the same room as the shower, if anyone was showing you could have a long wait.

Perfect stay, small, friendly and would return again with children

Liked Smaller tent site so little one (2 year old) could run about. Tent site in the open so be prepared for all weather. Chickens live onsite and roam about so bear in mind. 1 loo/shower for all campers but never had to wait a long time. Location good, few mile from main motorway and 10 min drive from big village/town with supermarket etc. Would highly recommend and would return again. Would be good to have a 'campers kitchen' I.e large outdoor sink and maybe a 1 more shower.

Great site if you love animals

Liked We loved the chickens who visited us in the tent each day, they even left an egg for us one day. Interesting being close up to the cows too. Relatively peaceful site and good base for exploring the area. Toilets appear clean and well stocked up with toilet roll and hand towels.

Disliked The toilets/showers are in need of an upgrade and there are not enough to go round during busy times. They also do not have enough bins (the single bin was permanently full) and seems there was once recycling in place, but bins are now not left out for its purpose. We were unsure if rubbish was recycled if left loose next to the bin.

Being left alone , dogs friendly, basic shower and toilet Perfect…

Liked Lovely grass pitch, firm but not stoney.

Disliked Be aware that the motorway is very close and you can hear it all night, ear plugs a must. The bins were constantly overflowing and the loos (two, each with a shower in, so hard to have a morning pee because of people showering). Dogs running around loose, which was a shame as it said that dogs were meant to be on leads, they kept coming to my pitch which disturbed my dog, who was on a lead. It became very stressful. Never saw the owners or anyone in charge. Says they have Wi-Fi, but none. Shame as some management of this site would make it a good stop over, as is I will not be staying again.

From the manager: I’m sorry that your stay was not as good as it could have been. We did try and see you several times were out. Our office is on site though so can be found anytime. The motorway is 2 miles away and cannot be heard. The rule is that dogs should be kept on leads at all times so, again, my apologies if this did not happen. We will increase signage.
Finally, we do have wifi and the password can be found on the sign.

Liked Nothing

Disliked Lack of services
Tent site muddy, small, bar wired fences. We felt like we were cattle.
Site old and dirty

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review our site. We are disappointed that you did not have an enjoyable stay. Most people do. It rained heavily for days before your arrival and during your stay so I understand your frustration with the conditions. We hope to see you again sometime when the weather is kinder to us!

Liked Really liked the camp site and had no problem hooking up and got free Wi-Fi which was an added bonus, everything you need toilets/shower room and they were relly clean and fresh water …

Disliked The only negative was it rained that heavy that the grass got very slippy and was hard to work on , but obviously they can’t control the weather , maybe could put down some pebbles or slabs which would make it easier to get too toilets…

Liked This is the first time I had used this app, it worked perfectly for going to see Harry Styles in Edinburgh.
We pitched the tent then went to the concert.
The campsite was rustic but as advertised. It was a perfect rock up and leave site.
