  • Peaceful park managed with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere
  • Spectacular Highland scenery at the foot of Ben Nevis
  • Enjoy the views and fresh mountain air
What spectacular scenery is this, set in the Highlands at the foot of Ben Nevis, with fresh mountain air and forest footpaths winding... yes, we get a tad poetic when scribbling about the scenery of Scotland. But. Have a look at those site pics. The vibe at Glen Nevis Caravan & Camping Park is of the peaceful and relaxed sort – pretty much a cert among scenery like this – and is in an award-winning, friendly and popular place about five minutes' drive from the town of Fort William. This is a topping location whatever your tastes: clambering mountainwards, biking through forest, walking by river and sifting through Scotland's history and heritage are all close by. The Glen Nevis team takes pride in the neat landscape and tidy facilities of the park, which is set over 30 acres of grounds flanked by trees, hedges and shrubs. And, as you like to see after a day clambering mountainwards, biking through forest etc, Glen Nevis Caravan & Camping Park also comes with a roomy and comfy bar and restaurant (pore over the old photos and the collection of antique kettles while you're there), and a cafe for guests to partake of an appropriately filling breakfast before a day out exploring or a lighter lunch before an afternoon stroll. Cakes, scones and pastries are always on sale too – something else we always like to see...

Liked: The check in was nice and easy, the staff at reception were on the ball and extremely friendly. Very quickly showed me where I camping pitch could be found and provided a map to help us find it.
The facilities were excellent: lovely little shop, great breakfast buttie bar and the showers were piping hot.
The nearby bar/restaurant was also great: some nice ales on tap, always a plus.
All in all Glen Nevis was a great choice for camping, will definitely stay again.

Local attractions

Indoors, outdoors, relaxed and active types are sorted here, with activities for all sorts easily accessible within a short drive. Heading outdoors first (there's a reason why Fort William is nicknamed 'the outdoor capital of the UK'), walks, bike rides, snowboarding, watersports and a whole heap more are all close by. Glen Nevis and its surrounds are crisscrossed with forest and riverside walks for all levels and abilities – and don't forget there's a mountain to climb for those so inclined too...? Cycle trails are also close to hand, as Fort William is a popular stop for cyclists and has nearby forests with networks of tracks as well as many purpose-built cycle paths. If you want to pedal further, lots of quiet roads leading to remote Highland communities are reachable on day trips. Snowy pursuits? The slopes of Aonach Mor are open to skiers and snowboarders in the winter and have some smashing runs for snowy sorts of all levels. Watery and more pursuits? Mountains, forests, lochs and the North Sea are all easy to get to from Glen Nevis Caravan & Camping Park, so curious Georges could try kayaking, go-karting, canyoning, salmon fishing or quad biking in the area among many more... Less manically, take a Nevis Range Cable Car or visit the West Highland Museum a few miles from base to see the area's scenery and history, or go nature spotting in the surrounding area to look for red deer, pine martens, otters, red squirrels, dolphins, seals, grouse, golden eagles: the Highlands have a nicely diverse range of wildlife and boat tours/guided walking tours are available to spot it in several areas. Also have a trip on the Jacobite steam train – yes, the one in the Harry Potter films – from June to September and from Fort William to Mallaig; and take a hike to Glenfinnan Monument, the viewpoint and visitor centre at the head of Glenfinnan telling all about the monument and the 1745 uprising. (Glenfinnan Viaduct is viewable from here; you might recognise it from the Harry Potter films too.) For castles, have a look at Eilean Donan Castle on the road to the Isle of Skye and Inverlochy Castle, the ruins of which date back to the thirteenth century; and for canals, go to Neptune's Staircase and the Caledonian Canal linking Fort William to Inverness, with paths on either side to stroll along.
