Highly recommended, peaceful, well-kept site with stunning beach spots. Guests love the friendly owners, roomy pitches, and choice of location. Offers a wild camping feel with water/waste, though no showers/toilets. Dogs welcome, great beach for fun.

Liked Love coming here, 2nd time coming and first with the kids, the views are stunning and you may as well be sleeping on the beach it’s that close. The owners are so friendly and relaxed, no pressure to vacate the site early and happy to let us stay and enjoy the beach.

The best place for water-loving campers!
Primitive grass and sand tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked We love the laid back vibe, it felt more like camping 20 years ago which we loved! The location of Newton Campsite is pretty hard to beat too, right on the most glorious beach.
Disliked Nothing to do with the campsite itself really, but being kept up with loud music until 1:30am in the morning over the bank holiday weekend was frustrating. Whilst the lack of rules is perfect for a laid back vibe, it also means some campers use it as an excuse to be a nuiscance. I feel like we just got a little unlucky and in general the noise levels were good despite staying 3 nights during a busy time of year.

Primitive grass and sand tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked The view the site the people were amazing people we met have been coming for 30+ years and we had a treasure hunt for pelican feet shells
Disliked Although I know the site doesn’t have showers or toilet block I really wish it did, second time I have stayed and will again but in a tent 2 days have been my max (looking into a tent shower though) beautiful site wish I could stay longer

Primitive grass and sand travel trailer campsite
Liked The pitch size, the view, the location, peaceful, everything was perfect for us. Planned on staying 2 nights and stayed a week. Shops a five minute drive away or a few towns, like Castle Douglas a fifteen minute drive. The beach is amazing for walks and opens up to a huge area when the tide is out. Definitely coming back.
