Powered grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked Flat site. No signs, no rules, easy, relaxed. Water, hook up, cassette emptying, washroom, shower with great hot water. Fabulous location, lovely village nearby. Perfect for walking and (serious) road cycling. Friendly helpful owner.

Disliked Pub in the village closed all January - we should have checked! Shows they had a good Christmas and Hogmanay though

Powered grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked Setting - quiet, relaxed and great location
Clean tidy and no litter
Facilities block style was quirky and well equipped.
We are looking forward to coming back soon.

Disliked Could do with extra slabs around toliet hut as it was quite muddy in places.
Needed a sink (rather than a urinal) in toliet room. Urinal smelt a bit bad at times.

A good stop over but one night is enough on our tour.

Liked Nice spot!
Arrived at 4pm and there was a choice 5 pitches.
A little sign that says park in any empty pitch would help.
Shower was great and plenty of hot water.
Adeque facilities for the location.
The site was full tonight.
No noise from anyone so a good night's sleep.
Drive to the end of the road is a must.
About 2 miles, the views are fantastic.

Disliked A little muddy but that the nature of a grass and hravel pitch.

Local attractions

Scottish escape not complete without a wee dram (or two)? Bag a tour and a drop of the uisge beatha (that’s Scots Gaelic for ‘the water of life’) at Oban Distillery – close to the coast on the Sound of Kerrera in the town of Oban – to learn all about the whisky-making process at this working distillery. For history buffs, the Kilmartin Museum of prehistory and the ruined Carnasserie Castle are within 20 minutes of Ardfern, and the Easdale Island Folk Museum is a puddle-hop away from Oban. Those who like their hols more lush than illuminating should make tracks for Arduaine Garden, 15 minutes from the site, and Crarae Garden Argyll, 45 minutes away. If you have extra time and don’t object to longer car journeys, a jaunt to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park less than an hour and a half from Ardfern is a must – it’s a top spot for climbing, angling, cycling and hiking, and you can get out on the water for watersports (try windsurfing, paddleboarding, canoeing, kayaking and sailing), water buses (great for the A to B, or for some sightseeing) and cruises.
