  • Peaceful pitches in the well-kept grounds of a 17th-century house
  • A 15-minute drive from Portlaoise; an hour away from Dublin
  • Part of a working farm; kitchen, showers and paid breakfast available
Inch House Ireland has pitches in the grounds of a smart and peaceful luxury guest house in co Laois, 15 minutes’ drive from Portlaoise. Stays here are in the well-maintained gardens of a 17th-century home that sits at the centre of a working farm. The river Stradbally runs along the side of the site to up the rural vibes even more (take a look around and you’d never guess that Dublin’s centre and airport are a mere hour’s drive away…) Life on site is laidback and should feel nice and secure as the site sits behind gates that can only be accessed by guests. Pitches have access to water supplies, waste disposal, showers and kitchen facilities, and you can also join fellow guests for a decent breakfast on site (for an extra charge). There’s plenty of outdoor seating if you’d rather stick to the open air, and a campfire area to warm your paws should the temperature drop of an evening. A hot tub is also on site. The setting just a few minutes from the town of Stradbally (home of the Electric Picnic music festival) is a handy one for getting out and about in the area known as Ireland’s Ancient East: age-old stately homes, churches and other heritage attractions are dotted about all over the place around here, and the gorgeous countryside in between them all means some rather fine walks to be had too.
