  • Spacious property in the Co.Down countryside, next to Divis mountain
  • A 15-minute drive to central Belfast; 35 minutes to Antrim Glens
  • Restaurant and play area on site; direct access to walking trails
To the countryside or to the city? You’ll be able to pick and choose day by day when staying at Standing Stones Lodge. This spacious Co.Down property sits just next to Divis mountain and is about 15 minutes’ drive from central Belfast, so it’s a handy spot indeed for those who like to pack a lot of variety into their break. That location gives you some pretty spectacular views of your surroundings – and there’s plenty more gorgeous scenery around this part of Northern Ireland too. Getting out to see some more of it should be straightforward, as the lodge is only about 10 minutes’ drive from the M1, for access to the motorway network for journeys to the coast, up into the Mourne mountains or in fact to any spot you’ve chosen for a day out. Staying here in the open air is a fabulous way to soak up some of that scenery, and the team that run the property have made sure there are plenty of useful facilities available to help you have a relaxing stay. Well-kept toilets and showers are available, along with added extras like a chemical disposal point and a washing-up area. The whole park is monitored by CCTV to keep guests safe and secure. Sunny days at Standing Stones Lodge can be spent with the kids running around at the play area while you tend your barbecue; there are picnic tables provided for outdoor meals with a view. On less clement days, or if you just don’t fancy cooking, stop by in the park's restaurant – it’s open for breakfast and lunch every day, and dinner from Thursday to Saturday, with a tempting range of good-value classic dishes.

What customers say

Beautiful views, quiet location near Belfast. Staff are great, restaurant excellent value. BUT, toilets/showers are dirty, basic, need urgent work. Some pitches also untidy.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Great view, facilities, location, staff and breakfast in the lodge. We had our first tent camping trip here and would definitely come again. So peaceful and remote, yet you're only a 5 minute drive back to West Belfast.

Disliked Nothing.

FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Recently stayed at this site and after being delighted with the location, a lovely hotel , glamping pods etc on approach. As we turned into the area for caravans and motorhomes the overall look of the area provided was shabby.
Not fully serviced pitches as describe , all coarse gravel pitches with weeds everywhere, knee high in some places . Our view from our van was 2 large over filled blue bins , and over 40 traffic cones all over the place .
But my main issue was the excuse they had as a toilet/shower block . Vile is the only word I could use to describe them , so bad that I only stepped inside to take photographs which I will enclose. The shower block in particular was the worst Ive seen on all my travels . If it hadn't been so late when we arrived , we would have left . Only saving grace was it was for 1 night only .

I did speak to the manager of the very beautiful and spotlessly clean hotel in the morning we left, voicing my feed back. He was very apologetic and said he would pass my concerns on to the owners of the Hotel. He did insist the area was cleaned daily , but no amount of cleaning would sort the problems they have particularly in the shower unit as u will see.

Such a shame, as with a bit of TLC and a new toilet/shower facility, it would be a lovely site .

Disliked Toileting facilities were unsightly & require a massive improvement to bring them upto the minimum standard expected.😡

I have a few photos, unfortunately I can't upload them, so if I can email them to you that might be better.

Liked Location to Belfast

Disliked This is a site for locals who played a card school in the recreational area so we didn't feel comfortable using it. There were 4 permanent large caravans who had extended family coming and going. It felt very intimidating. Many commercial vehicles were staying in the lodges. So looked like construct workers. The facilities were the most basic we have ever seen. No hot water to wash dishes, only a Belfast sink and a tap, no hot water in the toilets. Showers were rough. Staff at the hotel were helpful but didn't want to discuss these issues. If we could have found another site we would have. For the cost it was a rip off. You would not leave your vehicle unattended. Once in belfast we found a carpark near the Titanic museum where we could have stayed in safety, with other holiday makers.

Local attractions

Boots at the ready… you can walk straight from the lodge onto the Divis mountain trail, or the Black Mountain trail, both of which have gorgeous views along with a good amount of wildlife to spot (see if you can spot any red grouse or peregrine falcons overhead as you look out towards the Belfast skyline). More walks? Head out into the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (35 minutes’ drive) or aim south to the mountains of the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (50 minutes). If you’ve not managed to spot any big birds along the trails, you’ll surely have better luck at World of Owls (35 minutes). For magnificent buildings, meanwhile, try Antrim Castle (20 minutes) or Carrickfergus Castle (half an hour). Belfast (15 minutes) is a grand place for a day out too – perhaps visiting the Titanic Museum and Crumlin Road Gaol or taking a black cab tour to learn about the city’s troubled history.
