Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked No fuss no frills campsite with basic facilities. Portaloos were very clean and well stocked. There was a drinking water and grey water tap and chemical waste point and that was it. Just as we like it. Site was well kept and all visitors spread themselves out nicely and it was super quiet. Cycle track to Bath along the heritage railway runs directly behind the site. Stopped along route for coffee and had a pub lunch on the way back at the Locksbrook inn which sits on the bank of the river. Perfect. There is a Bristol/Bath bus stop a few metres away. Convenience store and garden centre a short stroll away too. What’s not to like. Price was great too.

Disliked Nothing.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked What a lovely site, so quiet, relaxing and secure!! Toilets are always clean.
Shops are nearby, (walking distance) nice chip shop and lovely pub. We got the number 19 bus in to Bath which was great and would highly recommend (or Bristol). Saves the stress of finding somewhere to park once there, and who doesn’t like a ride at the front at the top of a double decker bus?
Would highly recommend this site, if we didn’t have something else booked we would have stayed longer.
Will definitely be going back.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This is a lovely quiet campsite right next to the Avon Valley Cycle / Footpath that runs between Bath and Bristol. There are also lots of other lovely walks nearby and pubs to visit. The campsite facilities are basic, but kept lovely and clean with nice touches such as proper hand towels in the toilet cubicles and supplies of TP. Because the site is nice and big, even in a blazing hot August Bank holiday we had lots of space and privacy. On this weekend all the other visitors were lovely and we chatted to a few people but it went quiet after dark. All in all a wonderful long weekend and we didn’t want to come home! 🌞

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Very peaceful, spacious and reasonably priced. Only 4 chemical toilets but they were clean and well supplied. Lovely view of countryside around the field and convenient for lots of walks along canal/river paths and Bristol to Bath path. Easy walk to a number of good pubs. Particularly liked the Lock Keeper - good food and reasonably priced. Campsite well cared for and owners very friendly. Will definitely be returning!

Local attractions

Head half a mile to the Avon Valley Railway for heritage train rides leaving from Bitton and running alongside the River Avon or drive to Kelston Park (10 minutes' drive) and meander around this manor house and its 75-acre grounds. The Avon Valley Adventure Wildlife Park (15 minutes) is a prime pick for combining ambles with animal attractions – this kid-friendly spot is a farm and petting zoo with a playground, small train, go-karts and riverside roams. If your watery walks here have you itching to brave bigger trails, join the Monarch’s Way long-distance route, running 615 miles from Worcester to Brighton, from Bristol (25 minutes). Make sure to check out Cheddar Gorge (40 minutes) on wanders from the park as well and seek out subterranean spots to explore like the family-friendly Wookey Hole cave (40 minutes).
