  • Peaceful riverside site five minutes’ drive from Pewsey in Wiltshire
  • Stonehenge, Silbury Hill and Avebury all 20 minutes’ drive
  • Direct access to a pub and beer garden; shops five minutes’ drive
Right in the centre of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape and hugging the banks of the River Avon, the family-friendly site at Wiltshire’s Woodbridge Inn offers up three acres of leafy grounds to spread out and relax in. Surrounded by sleepy rural hamlets with old-world names like Manningford Bruce and Honey Street, the site has a handy location five minutes’ drive from the pretty town of Pewsey, its shops and restaurants. And even handier, it comes with a pub attached to it. The Woodbridge is an 18th-century coaching inn well-known for its traditional Sunday roasts; the pub serves local beers brewed in Devizes and has a riverside beer garden with a play area for younger guests. You can also order picnic meals for your jaunts around the North Wessex Downs to mysterious Stonehenge and ethereal Avebury (both 20 minutes’ drive). Back on site, simple facilities include an up-cycled amenities hut with showers. You can go paddleboarding and fishing on the Avon, and there are plenty of riverside walks so you can exercise any canine chums who are along for the ride.

What customers say

A picturesque riverside spot with a great pub. Pitches and staff are well-liked, and it's dog-friendly. Basic but clean facilities, though some wish for updates and more washrooms, especially when busy. Pub closures and limited food were noted.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked If you’re looking for a campsite that ticks all the boxes, this one is a gem! The facilities are clean and well-maintained, making your stay comfortable whether you’re in a tent, caravan, or motorhome. There’s plenty of space, so you never feel cramped – ideal for families or groups.
The location is fantastic: right next to a charming little river, perfect for a peaceful stroll or just relaxing by the water. And the bonus? A cosy pub just a short walk away, serving great food and drinks – perfect after a day outdoors.
Overall, it’s a brilliant spot for anyone who loves nature but doesn’t want to compromise on convenience. Highly recommended!

Primitive cement/asphalt campsite

Liked The warm welcome 🤗 Landlord/lady were very accommodating allowing us to choose our pitch, for our friends to arrive at convenient times to them. Bus stop outside the pub to Pewsley. Fab food. Site was lovely and dog friendly. Full facilities, hot water and showers all clean.

Disliked Would have liked a 2nd toilet on site, but fortunately wasn't busy so ok.

Power optional cement/asphalt campsite

Liked The owners were friendly and welcoming. The pitches were well spaced and with good electric hook-ups. The pub itself was very nice - they had a Halloween party on the weekend we stayed and felt welcome along with other campers and locals. There were lots of walking paths leading off from the campsite.

Disliked The toilet facilities were a little tired and would benefit from a refresh.

Power optional cement/asphalt campsite

Liked The pub. Really good menu with good cask ales and fantastic friendly locals. Bar people really friendly. There were 7 or 8 in the campsite but mature people. Though on a roundabout the roads are VERY quiet. Owls hooting all night.

Disliked Nothing really. There are some open deep bits of river....I guess if you have kids you'd have to be super vigilant.

Local attractions

If you’re keen to see some of the mysterious prehistoric relics littered about Wiltshire, head north to the vast stone circles at Avebury, or stop by conical Silbury Hill (both 20 minutes’ drive). Turn south from the site and you can be at Stonehenge, with its all-singing, all-dancing visitor centre, in 20 minutes too. Carry on to the ancient city of Salisbury (35 minutes) to visit the spiky-spired cathedral and Old Sarum Castle (half an hour). Devizes (20 minutes) has a famed brewery to tour, and there are spectacular downs views from the Caen Hill lock flight on the Kennet and Avon Canal just outside town. Another pretty canal-side walk takes in Pewsey Wharf (10 minutes), where scores of brightly coloured barges line the banks. When you want to stay closer to base camp and just potter about, there’s a trout fishery five minutes’ stroll down the road, or you can play a round or two of golf (five minutes’ drive). Take scenic walks along the River Avon from the site, or embark on longer hikes through the undulating North Wessex Downs countryside.
