  • Peaceful site on a large estate 10 minutes' drive from Frome
  • Within half an hour of Longleat, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury and Bath
  • Camp kitchen, café and barbecues or firepits to hire
The arts and culture hotspot of Bruton to the south and the market town amenities of Frome a couple of miles in the other direction… this is a splendid spot for a Somerset stay. Field 725 Eco Camping and Glamping is a family-friendly site in the grounds of Redwood Rare Breeds Farm Park, and within easy reach of loads of local activities and attractions – Bath, Wells or Glastonbury are all about half an hour away, as are Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and Longleat. Should you wish to plot your next adventures in a pub, a 17th-century inn is in the village of Nunney, five minutes’ drive away (or an hour on foot for the energetic). Back at base, there’s lots of lovely space for running about/chilling out (delete as appropriate), and kit to borrow for games of cricket and swingball. Barbecues and firepits are available to rent for open-air evenings, and there’s a covered camp kitchen in case of damp days. The little on-site café is open at weekends through the summer for hot drinks, breakfast rolls and wood fired pizzas.

Local attractions

Active types can stride forth from the site to walk to local villages including Mells and Nunney, climb Cley Hill or ramble along the Colliers Way; if you're a cyclist, pedal your way along the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath (all the way to Bath if you’re feeling fit). Facilities are nearby for horse riding, rock climbing, fishing and archery. For town times, the site's around a half-hour drive from medieval Wells, UNESCO-listed Bath and Arthurian Glastonbury. The Somerset Rural Life Museum is the place to soak up a bit more local history, and there are vintage vehicles aplenty on show at the Haynes International Motor Museum and on the heritage line at East Somerset Railway. Other days out locally include Stourhead National Trust estate, the six-mile safari driving trail at Longleat, the show caves at Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge (England’s largest gorge at three miles long, fact fiends).

Primitive grass tent campsite

Safari bell tent (three person)

Liked: Dan and the team were amazing and always happy to help. Toilets, wash area and the communal kitchen were always clean. The fridge freezer in the kitchen was an added bonus. Plenty of space for the kids to play and even a covered communal seating area if the great British weather is against you. The views were also amazing. Would definitely return here for another visit.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Food and Drink facilities, showers, arts and crafts, Early weekend pizza and weekday events. Showers and cleaning facilities were good.

Disliked: Toilets were in abit of a bad condition but usable. The chemical toilets broke halfway through our stay but the camp had someone out within 24hour looking at them.
