Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: I loved Croscombe Camping. The owner was very friendly and helpful and I was able to park by my pitch without a problem. I was happy with the toilet and shower facilities. The field was big meaning that there was plenty of space between us and the other campers, and the view across the countryside was beautiful, with Glastonbury Tor visible in the distance. There was minimal light polution, which meant that as it was a clear sky at night I got a great view of the stars. It was very peaceful and relaxing - the most noise came from the sound of the birds' dawn chorus in the morning, which was great to hear, and I also enjoyed hearing a tawny owl at night.

Disliked: Nothing at all - I wish I could have stayed more than one night and hope to be back.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Loved this site. Lots of space. Great view. Facilities were clean. Brilliant pub nearby, down the hill, who were doing a delicious curry buffet night. It was packed so it was a good job we got there early. The owner of the campsite was very helpful and friendly. Thank you for an excellent stay.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Liked: We absolutely love this campsite, we have been multiple times in all different times of year and it has always been a success. Emma is absolutely wonderful and always super helpful, each time we have asked for anything she has been quick to respond and help. The views at the campsite are incredible and the facilities are always in top condition. We could not recommend this campsite enough and will definitely be back again in the near future and more!

Disliked: Nothing!!!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Great views Good location

Disliked: If you are unlucky to have a rainy weather, and you do not have a 4x4 car, you are unlikely to get out of the camp without pushing your car out or 4x4 vehicle. We had 7 cars stuck and needed to be pulled out during our stay. As the soil is mudy, the cars are just sliding on it and ruined yhe grass on the field.Last 2 days of our stay we had to park our car on the top of the hill and had to carry all our belongings by foot, which is not great as the mudy and soaking wet soil is not the best place to walk on. Plus it's a lot to carry -including bbq and tent(when packing yo ho home) Toilets and showers: showers were not working during the day-they were turned on after 5pm. After bank holiday weekend, toilet paper has finished and it was not replaced, as well as the toilets were not cleaned.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: A nice wide and open camp site with a good view. It had all the basics that I was expecting. Good shower, toilet and washing facilities. We had 4G signal on our mobiles which was neat. The campsite is in good driving range of Bath, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge.

Disliked: It rained heavily and our car got stuck in mud skidding when we were trying to leave. Another camper who had a bigger car had to tow us and another car out. I'm not too sure how the campsite owners can deal with this but it's something to be aware of.

Local attractions

Catch the Somerset history vibe with visits to the flamboyant, Gothic-era Wells Cathedral (10 minutes’ drive), and check out the Bishop’s Palace and Gardens too. Glastonbury (20 minutes) has an atmospheric abbey of its own, and loads of quirky little shops selling joss sticks and silver jewellery, while the darker side of local life is revealed on ghostly guided walks of Shepton Mallet Prison (10 minutes). Want to breathe in more of that fresh Somerset air? Scramble up to the top of Glastonbury Tor (20 minutes) for far-reaching views of the Somerset Levels (30 minutes), where you can spot wading birds on walks and cycles through sleepy villages. For more hardcore exercise, take a climbing course on the limestone cliffs of Cheddar Gorge (25 minutes). Animatronic dinosaurs, cave tours and mini golf may well keep kids entertained for much of the day at Wookey Hole Caves (15 minutes), or you can clamber aboard a steam train on the East Somerset Railway (15 minutes) to chug through the countryside. And if you’re holidaying with teens, pray they don’t know about Clarks Village (25 minutes), or they’ll be busy spending your retirement fund in the cut-price designer outlet stores.
