  • Beaches in Charmouth and Lyme Regis around 20 minutes' drive away
  • Well-maintained amenities including heated shower block
As most folk know, country rambles are an absolute must when holidaying in Dorset. So it's most fortuitous that Oathill Farm Holiday and Touring Park's lovely location allows for easy access to many human- and dog-friendly walks. Not only do these start straight from the site, they go along public footpaths and a network of country lanes, over bridges and rivers to local beauty spots like Forde Abbey House and Gardens, Pilsdon Pen and Wayford Woods. The family crew at Oathill have been running things in a relaxed, friendly and well-kept manner for years at their neatly landscaped site, set over 10 acres of Dorset countryside, with landscaped ponds and separate designated recreational and dog walking areas. All of this provides a peaceful environment for guests, in keeping with the stunning local Dorset landscapes such as the seaside scenery of Lyme Regis, 12 miles away. The team prides itself on the standard of its facilities and amenities: guests have the use of a heated toilet and shower block, a washing-up area, a washer and a dryer. As there is no shop or café on site, take a 10-minute drive to Crewkerne to grab groceries at the nearest shop.

Liked: Everything. Quiet, peaceful site. Our pitch was level too, took minutes to set up. Really clean and tidy, well worth its rating. Situated between Chard and Crewkerne it is close enough for visiting jurassic coast and far enough away from the traffic. Friendly and helpful manager, Had a great time, will definitely stay again sometime. The lake was nice with ducks too.

Liked: Absolutely love this campsite, it is so peaceful, and beautifully landscaped. Really lovely owners too who keep the place immaculate. There are 3 holiday rental cabins in the corner that are beautifully kept also. It is an extremely well laid out site with lovely large pitches, 16amp electricity and water right near the pitches too. We stayed for just over a week but could have definitely stayed for longer but unfortunately we had to return home for business. When you turn into the site there is a chalkboard welcoming you with your name next to your pitch number, so you don't even need to go to reception, you can just drive straight onto your pitch and start enjoying your holiday, which we think is such a fab idea. We have stayed all over the world at different campsites and this has got to be one of our new favourite sites. We can not wait to return. Plus it is open all year too!

Disliked: Absolutely nothing.

Liked: We liked how peaceful it was, and the children enjoyed the space. Close to a lot of places, and far enough away for those peaceful days on site with some nice walks. The couple who run the site were always on hand when needed, but gave you space, when you didn't. Also reasonably priced, but if you can't entertain yourself, maybe not for you.
