Primitive grass campsite

Liked: My first time going CV solo so had no idea what to expect. Brean I found not to my taste, imagine my delight when I arrived at Diamond Farm down a quiet secluded lane and the lovely receptionist said how lucky I was to be in a certain field. No electric or water, no problem. Wow, it was stunning, just one tent and me. The river a few yards away, looking over the hills, shielded from ‘real life’. I loved every minute I was there. Thank you.

Liked: Clean flat site, good size pitches, well maintained amenities, convenient for bus stops to Burnham or Weston supermare . Helpful staff, great apple pie at the onsite cafe. Road to the site narrow with MANY sharp bends, but negotiable.

Disliked: Paying for Wifi which was not great signal

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Really well organised campsite, with different size pitches to meet different needs. Excellent shower/toilet facilities. Small shop/cafe that does breakfast. Staff really friendly, was given a decent map of the site, plus was shown to pitch by staff member on a buggy.

Disliked: The wind! We had to re-pitch our awning multiple times. (The campsite is definitely in a wind tunnel - just looking at the extra storm straps on the seasonal pitches will tell you that!) Wifi wasn't free (so didn't use). Phone signal (both Three and Vodafone) was poor.

Local attractions

Brean Down is one of the Diamond Farm team's fave views from the site: have a day here for wildlife watching and hiking among spectacular scenery, before descending to the beach and café at the bottom of the Down. Bring your camera too, as the views here are stellar, over the Somerset Levels as well as over the Bristol Channel to south Wales. Also recommended by the team is Brean Leisure Park (five minutes' drive or about 35 minutes' walk), one of the largest funfairs in the south-west and home to rides, rollercoasters and the Brean Splash waterpark on a 200-acre setting. Even closer to home at a mile from the site is the Animal Farm Adventure Park, with a play barn, slides, ball pools and a menagerie of goats, donkeys and llamas and other furry critters to see. Beach buffs can drive along to the sands, pier and helicopter museum of Weston-super-Mare (25 minutes' drive to the north) or Burnham-on-Sea (15 minutes south), for wide open sands, several lighthouses and access to the Somerset Levels. Then set off for days out at Cheddar Gorge (35 minutes), Glastonbury (45 minutes), the Wookey Hole Caves (50 minutes) and the small city of Wells, 55 minutes away.
