What customers say

This campsite earns top marks for incredible views, generous and tidy sites, and spotless washrooms. Guests loved the tranquil vibe, easy access to the coastal path, and the handy on-site store. Most staff were friendly, though a few noted rigid check-in times and less welcoming attitudes. Play area updates and clearer signs were suggested.

Powered grass RV campsite

Liked Wonderful scenery, walks and wildlife

Good facilities

Disliked Although the staff we met were helpful the overall ambience of the place is rather too rules bound - when you arrive you're given two pages of what you can't do and not a word of welcome and what you CAN do. I know places have to have rules but still....

Primitive grass tent campsite (water view)

Liked Great facilities, kids play area, laundry, and spacious well-planned pitches.
Very clean shower and bathroom block, with plenty of stalls.
A very quiet, spacious, and comfortable site.
Our pitch was very well sheltered from the wind during our stay.
The view from the water-view pitches was delightful.

Disliked Our water-view pitch was on a slope, which we found did cause our sleeping bags to slip during the night.

Liked Site including facilities were clean and well kept throughout. Views were excellent.

Disliked Not the best of welcomes. Lots of rules and regulations. Facilities were minimal. If there options of using clubhouse and swimming pool on adjoining site they were not pointed out by staff or on literature received.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Our Terms and Conditions are made available to all before and on arrival so everyone can have a safe and relaxing holiday. These are also included in the Ts and Cs on Pitchup when you made your booking, which are fairly standard on licenced camping premises. There is not an option of using the facilities on the neighbouring camping park which is why you were not given details about them.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very clean tidy and quiet, fabulous views
Lots of rules, stick to them and the holiday police won’t come and tell you off
Toilet and shower areas really clean
Grounds immaculate, some nice walks

Disliked The shop is a little run down and only open for an hour in the morning & afternoon ( there’s an Aldi down the road)but has all the basics you may need including their own beef for sale in the freezer

Expensive to connect to the Wi-Fi

Local attractions

Birdwatchers should keep binoculars to hand when wandering about the site, or you can head for Fleet Lagoon (10 minutes’ walk) to watch the antics of Brent geese, coots and terns. Set around a tumbledown medieval monastery, Abbotsbury Swannery (15 minutes’ drive) is famed for its mute swans, with their cygnets hatching during late May and June. There are furry – rather than feathered – friends to be found at Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens (25 minutes) in the shape of donkeys, alpacas and cheeky goats. If the kids haven’t seen enough wildlife by then, no doubt you’ll be heading for Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (40 minutes) to meet the primates or join keeper talks about chimps and gibbons. Try to squeeze a little culture into your offspring with a tour of Victorian-era Nothe Fort (20 minutes), where you can also take a boat trip around the harbour. If that fails to spark young minds, perhaps the sandy beach and observation wheel at Weymouth (15 minutes) will be more of a hit.
