Powered grass campsite

Liked: Location nice and central to lovely West Bay. Site has supermarket, restaurant, club house and swimming pool. Good bus service.

Disliked: Touring toilet and shower block seems a little small for number of pitches. If you are on one of the back pitches it's a fair walk to the facilities and steep hillside tiers, but nice view from high up across the bay.

Star FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: The holiday park was in the perfect location for exploring West Bay. Easy to get to without many / any skinny windy roads in the approach. Lots of good facilities for our daughter including swimming, park, and small soft play. There was also entertainment but we didn't stay for it so can't comment.

Disliked: Would have been nice to have a spot of grass for games next to the hardstanding touring pitches as we've had in some sites but I know that's not always possible. Other than that no complaints really - and that's only me saying because there's a box for it.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The West Bay holiday Park gives a warm welcome to the Dorset countryside. Whether a caravan or motorhome, this site makes for a great base with both grass and hardstanding pitches. There are all facilities available. Showers are cleaned and nice. The location couldn't be better with views of the surrounding and only few minutes walk to the beach on one site and the river on the other site. Many pubs and places to eat around. Definitely will be back.

Star FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Location is fantasic. Plenty going on around West Bay and the area is stunning. Staff were great especially Andy on the touring pitches. Location wise this would have to rank as the best site we have every stayed on. Nice and close to Bridport which is lovley, and within easy reach of 2 nicer places; Lyme Regis & Sidmouth.

Disliked: The shower block could do with updating.

Disliked: Arrived to find our pitch was a concrete square, in a small camper van , with no loo etc so unable to put any pegs in our loo tent, or put a side awning up, nothing when we booked saying van site was concrete, we couldnt stay there as van was full, usually put all our stuff in tent to put bed down , so left , lost our nights money and came home a day early, these places need to tell you if on concrete, as not all of us have motorhomes,

Local attractions

Start on the doorstep in West Bay itself: you could go fossil hunting underneath the sandstone cliffs, crabbing in the harbour, take a boat tour of the Jurassic Coast, or head out into the big blue yonder on a sea fishing trip; then there’s golf, paragliding, scuba diving, watersports, and excellent walking along the coastal paths… Take a break from feeding yourself up on all the gorgeous local produce to hand feed the birds at Abbotsbury Swannery, where the 600 nesting mute swans make for an impressive sight (and plenty of hungry beaks); there are also award-winning gardens and a kids' farm to explore. The coastal resort of Lyme Regis has been drawing the crowds since time immemorial and is well worth a visit; other historical gems in West Dorset include the Jacobean manor house of Mapperton, set amongst topiary, terraced gardens and rolling hills; Forde Abbey and gardens; a cluster of castles; and the giant chalk man in the hillside at Cerne Abbas. Alternatively, if there are animal addicts in your party, they'll go ape for the 240-plus inhabitants of Monkey World and potty for the penguins and underwater specimens at Weymouth Sea Life Park.
