What customers say

This campsite gets props for its lovely, quiet, secluded spot with great views. Campers loved the "wild camping" vibe, noting the calm and lots of wildlife. Facilities, like eco-friendly long-drop toilets and hot showers, are basic but clean and fine. Bell tents are well-stocked. Most found it a peaceful getaway, close to local sights, though some had trouble finding it or dealt with wind and facility quirks.

Liked Really small, secluded and quiet campsite with a lovely view. Felt very close to wildcamping.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely location. Glorious views. Long drop composting loo, drinking water and hot shower. Very basic, which is why I loved it. Fire pit and wood provided for £5. Lovely host.

Disliked Would like the trees to grow quickly to shelter from the wind. Southerly

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Beautiful little field with great views and clean facilities. Stunning place to wake up listening to the cows and sheep in the distance and watch the sunset round a campfire, lucky enough to have the place to ourselves too! Will definitely be back.

Bell tent (two person)

Liked The bell tent was incredibly well-equipped, we hadn't expected so much to be included and only actually realised the cooking/washing equipment was there on the second night! Views were lovely, site was quiet, and you definitely felt that you were in nature. The site has an atmosphere of wild camping but with a long-drop loo and sink (with drinking water), so somewhere between a field and a campsite!

Disliked The lock on the toilet was broken, and the shower ran out of gas while my partner was in it, turning ice cold, and due to the buildings being somewhat rustic they were very draughty so it was freezing! I also noticed the shavings in the loo were running very low towards the end of our stay. Due to the position of the tent (and the field more generally) there was a great deal of cold wind, which made it very difficult to cook, and also very loud in the tent. This may have been the residue of a storm though, and perhaps not usual. The other campers had positioned themselves in corners, while the bell tent was more exposed.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Felt remote and quiet but was actually very convenient for the local Devon towns. Plenty of village pubs within a short drive. Simple facilities that met all of our needs.
