Power optional cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: Well laid out site with good level pirches, great amenities block including dog shower. Really good restaurant actually on site with interesting and varied menu of locally sourced food including game! Smashing staff. Such fantastic walks from the site right up on to the Moor, and good views from many pitches. You can even get baked pastry and bread baked on site in the morning. I will return with friends.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: Loved the location, the facilities were clean and tidy. The workers are always available to help if you need any questions and just a round lovely place. I loved how every pitch had a picnic table and bench which helped out a lot. Also listening to the wildlife around was beautiful.

Disliked: Just a gentle reminder to guests about being mindful after 11pm to be quiet and before 7am in the morning. I understand kids making noise but not adult.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: What an absolutely fabulous site! From the minute I arrived I was made to feel welcome. Just looking around, you know that this is a site that has grown and matured in capable hands over many years. EVERYTHING is cared for and perfect, from the landscaping of the pitches to the meticulous (ongoing) day to day maintenance. All amenities are modern, pristine and spotless (and everything has been thought of) - it was very noticeable that campers, themselves picked up on the pride taken in keeping the facilities tip-top, and did their bit to help, too. Freshly baked bread every morning, site shop AND a fully manned bar and restaurant - all menu items can be ordered as a take-away and everything was heart-warming and delicious - MIND BLOWING! The location is stunning and just perfect for walkers (with/without dogs) - out the side gate and you're on Pew Tor in minutes. SO lovely not to have to drive . . . My favourite site so far (and I've been to a lot!), but it always comes down to the same thing in the end: It's the people that make a site what it is and everyone here works very hard to provide a first-rate camp site. WELL DONE!

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: Amazing location in Dartmoor but close to Tavistock. The campsite has everything we needed and great little touches. The facilities were really clean. Lovely play park for the children and easy access to beautiful walks straight off the campsite. Check-in was really smooth, member of staff showed us everything and to our pitch. We have an 2 year old and the site felt very safe, welcoming and easy. We all loved it. Absolutely no complaints have recommended to our friends and we’ll definitely stay again.

Route directions

From Tavistock, take the B3357 road to Princetown/Two Bridges. After approximately two miles, look for a right-hand turn at a white cottage, and follow brown tourist signs for the site. Follow the lane and you will shortly go over a cattle grid - up the hill, turn left at the sign and again left at the next junction. The site is along the laneway on the right-hand side. Go over the cattle grid and follow the road right up the hill to a stop sign. Do not use satnav if you are towing or in a large vehicle.

Local attractions

Holidaymakers can amble or pedal straight onto the moors from here, and it only takes a few minutes to scramble to the summit of Pew Tor for views for miles around. As well as the wealth of hiking and biking routes in the area, there are centres for horse riding, canoeing and climbing on Dartmoor, to help visitors make the most of the spectacular landscapes. If you’re feeling brave, you can even go wild swimming... although you may prefer to nip over the border to Cornwall’s beaches to go swimming or surfing. A 10-minute drive from Langstone Manor is the market town of Tavistock, where there are regular farmers' markets, a cinema and an indoor swimming pool (with waterslides and kids' pool). For National Trustees, the granite crenellations of Castle Drogo are worth a visit; this Lutyens-designed castle was the last ever built in England, and has lovely gardens and a scenic outlook over the Teign Gorge. The dramatic waterfalls and ancient woodlands of Lydford Gorge (the deepest gorge in the south west) are not to be missed either, as long as you don’t mind a bit of strenuous walking, or getting your feet wet. Rainy day suggestions include Plymouth, home to the UK’s biggest aquarium, or an exit to Exeter, a cathedral city bristling with shops and things to do.
