  • Peaceful dog-friendly site on the edge of the Exmoor National Park
  • A 10-minute drive to Combe Martin's beaches and Exmoor Zoo
  • 15 acres of grounds; firepits available; dog-friendly pub nearby
From cliffs and combes to dazzling sandy coves… charter new territories from Long Moor Farm Camping. On the edge of Exmoor National Park and 10 minutes’ drive from the sandy Combe Martin beaches, this dog-friendly site opens the door to a long list of Devon adventures, from cliff railways to bubbling surf and family-friendly zoos and wildlife parks. If you need to keep warm, hire a firepit and make the most of the starry skies (no generators allowed on site, please). This site is all geared up for wild camping with a basic amenities block, hot showers and dishwashing area, and sloping countryside on all sides. If you fancy a stretch of your legs first thing in the morning, take a wander around the site's 15 acres of grounds. Based 10 minutes’ drive outside of Combe Martin, this site is well-positioned for fishing down at the bay or hiring a paddleboard or kayak for waves further out. If the scent of fish and chips is calling your name, try out the local seafood in one of the restaurants in the harbour. And when you fancy just a small snack or something to take back with you, there are plenty of shops and ice cream parlours in the town. Heading out for food straight from the site? There are several pubs including a dog-friendly inn on the old Lynton to Barnstaple railway, within five minutes’ drive of the site (and a cider and farm shop within walking distance too).

Liked: We enjoyed the relaxed setting and friendly welcome from Rocky. The site has simple but we'll maintained facilities. Decent showers and toilets, and a washing up point. The site has a curfew of 11pm. Theee were some from a group camping together that broke this by being g noisy until 2am. The next day they were all told to leave and Rocky came around to apologise for the upset. Top man.

Liked: We had expected quite a basic campsite, but the warm welcome, extra bank holiday activities (water slide + bucking bronco) and large purpose-built shower/loo/washing area was a nice surprise. The hook-up worked fine. There's a little honesty shop which was handy too, and plenty of firepits and wood. The field is large and flat at the bottom, leading up to a hill and a large wooden garden swing for enjoying the view. You can tell lots of handmade love has been put into the Long Moor site.

Disliked: This site is super popular with dog owners, so there was some early morning barking. There was a large deposit made behind our tent and not cleared away which was pretty gross, but that's more about the visitors than the site - Long Moor has a dog mess bin for responsible owners.

Liked: Really nice family campsite. It has been one of our favourites. Piping hot water, plenty of toilets and showers. Enough for my children to do and no tolerance towards rowdy groups that keep you up! We will be back.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: This is a beautiful campsite in the North of Devon. The facilities are clean and tidy, the showers are constant and really hot, and the honesty shop is a great idea! Make sure you bring plenty of cash! I am new to the camping scene and I actually quite enjoyed a shower in the great outdoors.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Lovely spacious pitches which are ideal for big family tents. Showers were great really powerful and hot. Although toilets were laid out well could do with being separated into male/female. Honesty shop was brilliant!

Disliked: Ground was just constantly wet despite nice weather, field not very well drained also grass is very long. Quite a loud/noisy site at night due to big groups of people and also no vehicle rules regarding driving between certain times. Hand wash basins had limited hot water taps working.

Local attractions

You may spot plenty of interesting creatures in the bays and along the coastal paths, but if you’re looking for something a little on the wilder side, Exmoor Zoo (10 minutes’ drive) has hordes of beasts, reptiles and birds in their enclosures. There are more wild animals housed at the Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (five minutes), as well as some pretty impressive life-sized dinosaur figures and trails. It may seem tricky to keep away from the coast and all its activities. Tackle the huge hill at Lynton and Lynmouth (20 minutes) on foot or take the cute cliff railway to the top and work your way through its woodlands and gorges footpaths. And once you’ve visited the cliffside of the Valley of Rocks (20 minutes), head towards Woolacombe (20 minutes) for a sandy stretch that's said to be one of the best in country. After a little dive into old times? Arlington Court (10 minutes) is a grand National Trust property with a carriage museum and gardens. There’s another National Trust property at Watersmeet House (25 minutes), surrounded by ancient woodlands, gorges and rivers for canoeing. And how about a family theme park inside a castle? You’ll find this unusual attraction at Watermouth Castle (15 minutes).
