Liked: Great view and excellent facilities. The toilets were really clean throughout. The children were kept entertained with the parks on site and the pub at the end of the road serves a wonderful burger!

Liked: Beautiful views. Excellent Well Maintained shower/Toilet room. Flowery Meadow in the steepest area of the field. Lovely area
Disliked: No level pitches and probably only space for about 10 or so reasonably level pitches in the large field. Poorly arranged services with field approximately 500 m each side with little shop and bins (not used by me) in one corner and the 4 toilets and shower in the diagonally opposite corner. The toilet was near the bottom of the very steep slope. My friend who has poor knees had to use her walking poles to get there. Campsite surrounded by typical Dartmoor lanes that are single track so require the ability to reverse for up to 100 m to reach a passing place.

From the manager: Thanks for your review , We always appreciate feedback that we can constructively work on. Our field, while a charming 200 meters at its longest point and covering a delightful 5 acres, does indeed have its quirks. Licensed for 28 pitches (though we could squeeze in 50 if we felt like it with spare space), we intentionally avoid the "bowling green" look. We think a bit of character in the terrain adds to the adventure, don’t you? As per our terms, we cannot change the lie of the land, the weather or the roads! This is Devon and we are in Dartmoor National Park In our 9 years of welcoming campers, this is the first time we've received such feedback as to the situation of our facilities. As for the roads, welcome to Devon! Single-track lanes with the occasional need to reverse are part and parcel of the local charm. We thought passing your driving test included a module on reversing? Regarding our facilities, the hill to the toilets is indeed as steep as you choose it to be, considering the varying slopes. It's all about perspective! Our facilities are spaced to balance accessibility and aesthetics, though we understand it may not suit everyone’s preferences, however in our terms we make that very clear. Finally, the descriptions on Pitch Up are beyond our control, so any poetic license there isn’t our doing. We genuinely value your feedback and will consider it where national park planning laws allow, as we continue to improve

Liked: Very clean well kept toilets and showers, and the honesty shop was a wonderful little touch which we used on a couple of occasions. Views spectacular and very peaceful site. Kids play area a lovely thing to have for the little ones. Some goats on site to say hello to!
Disliked: Site on a steep hill limiting pitches, and road to get to site treacherous on a motorcycle so be careful all you bikers out there! Host sadly didn't chek in with us at all during our stay so had to find the amenities by ourselves.

From the manager: Absolutely! Here's a more light-hearted response with the additional details: Thank you for your review and for highlighting our superstar amenities and serene views! It's always great to hear that our toilets are clean, the honesty shop is well-appreciated, and the kids (and goats) are happy. We hear you about the hill—it does indeed require a bit of a climb! Our campsite's location offers those unbeatable views, but it also means a workout for your vehicle. For all the daring bikers, consider it a part of the adventure—like a rollercoaster, but with more goats and less screaming. Just last weekend, we had three bikers who've become regulars; they assure us that the road becomes friendlier with each visit! We understand that our Harry Potter-style disappearing host act might not be everyone’s cup of tea. As a cozy rural site, we don’t have the manpower for a manned reception, much as we’d love to greet each camper with a high-five or a secret handshake. We strive to provide all the necessary info digitally to make your stay smooth, but we'll definitely brainstorm ways to add more personal touches without resorting to cloning technology. Thanks again for your feedback! We hope to welcome you back soon—hill, goats, and all. Much love Kate

Liked: Friendly owners, good site with views across the valley. Owners were nice and welcoming. Site is a little hilly so be careful where you pitch. 2 standalone toilet sheds and 2 other toilet rooms with showers also. Showers were clean and tidy. Hot water in the washing up shed wasn’t working for 2 of the days, which turned back on again after this. Small honesty shop is useful as well as communal fridge/freezer. Local pub only 2 min walk away and can use owners drive to walk down and access. Pub food is brilliant. Got breakfast served on sat/sun mornings for £7.50 which was well worth it and tasty.
Disliked: Site was very busy on Saturday morning so chose not to use them. The site could do with a couple of extra showers.
