Local attractions

Some of the best surf in the land foams just a few miles from Koa Tree Camp, for both experienced boarders and beginners. If you've never learned, this is very much the place to start – head to Bude for lessons. Koa Tree's local village is Welcombe, by the sea on the Devon/Cornwall border (its beach Welcombe Mouth is tricky to get to but well worth it when you get there). The village has a few craft workshops run by talented types, and artistic views of the South West Coast Path towards Lundy. Many more beaches are within an easy drive, like Westward Ho! (20-25 minutes) or Croyde and Woolacombe within a 40-minute drive. And more coast too: if hiking is your holiday thing, you might like to know that the South West Coast Path's Hartland to Bude section has been voted one of the most stunning on all the 630-mile run. More? Hikes and strolls on Exmoor, Bodmin and Dartmoor are all a short drive away.
