  • Flat level grass pitches with easy access from the A30
  • A mile from the surfing beach of Porthtowan
  • Adventure play area, swings, shop and games room
Small and friendly, family run and a mere mile from the first-rate Cornish beach of Porthtowan… this is a peaceful and well located place for Cornwall breaks. Porthtowan Tourist Park is in a quiet countryside setting, on the edge of Porthtowan village surrounded by fields and country lanes – but is only a couple of miles from the A30 and has easy access to Truro, Portreath, Tehidy Country Park and the South West Coast Path. This is an award-winning park, with modern facilities maintained to a high standard. There's a games room and adventure play area for leisurely times indoors or out; a tourist information room for plotting your next Cornish stopoff, and a food shop open daily – you'll be chuffed to hear that barbecues are allowed on site too... Among the well-kept amenities are a launderette, a washing-up area and a disabled-friendly toilet and shower block. Dogs are welcome on site.

Liked: We’ve just returned from a lovely stay at Porthtowan Tourist Park. The pitches are spacious, level and well maintained. The on site facilities suited our family, with a well equipped play area and games room. The toilets/showers were really clean and we rarely had to wait to use the facilities. There’s also a family shower room which is great for those with small children. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and clearly take pride in their site. The location was good, being only a couple of minutes drive from Porthtowan beach and a few minutes drive to Redruth for supermarkets. It’s also a great base location to explore southern Cornwall. We would highly recommend this site and will definitely stay again.

Disliked: We didn’t dislike anything.

Liked: We had an amazing stay at Porthtowan Tourist Park. The site was a perfect size and all pitches were nice, flat and a generous size. The children’s park was great and well looked after. The toilet block and showers were thoroughly cleaned and spotless every time we used them. Also the best WIFI we have had at a campsite! Was great to see the passion in the family ran site, with welcoming owners who clearly love what they do, thank you ☺️ We would definitely return and highly recommend.

Disliked: Nothing!

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (premium)

Liked: We absolutely loved our stay here. The site itself is really well maintained and well laid out. The facilities are spotless and the showers had plenty of hot water at all times. The owners are so friendly and helpful, from offering to park the caravan when we arrived, to moving our pitch closer to the park when we asked. It's a great location , just a short drive to the beach. The enclosed dog park is perfect to exercise the dog on site. It would be good to have a dog wash/ shower on site if looking to add anything in the future. Thanks for a lovely stay. We will definitely return.

Disliked: Nothing at all to dislike

Liked: Very well organised site, clean facilities, extremely friendly and helpful staff, clearly working tirelessly to keep the site tidy and ensure everyone has a good stay. Large pitches, great facilities for children old and young and an enclosed dog walking area. Walk to a good beach around 2miles. WiFi good. We normally always try a new site but we would definitely stay here again.

Liked: The whole place was immaculate, the shower block was being cleaned throughout the day not just at the stated time the, the site the staff we just can’t praise enough, thank you for a fantastic stay. As for the children as soon as we parked up they was off to the play area and made friends right away it’s a great meeting point and fun was had daily. The beach is a 2 min drive or 1 mile walk, you can even go the scenic route which is stunning along the cliff edges with breathtaking views of the sea and beach, it’s a must Take a car to get around Cornwall & you can have a great week. It’s a 10 from us

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (premium)

Liked: Superb site, very well maintained, clean and fresh looking. We stayed on a fully serviced touring pitch and the supplies were well placed on each pitch. Great location with quick easy access to the A30. On-site facilities were excellent and everything was getting cleaned very often. Nice little site shop selling all the main essentials open for a few hours each morning and each afternoon. The staff here were a credit to the place, each and every one of them were very cheerful, would always say hello and have a quick chat with you, it made for a very welcoming and pleasant stay.

Local attractions

Stick to the north coast area, venture inland, or head down to Falmouth and the south coast, all within easy driving distance of here. Within walking distance, the beach of Porthtowan is a popular spot for surfers and families, with plenty of rockpools and caves to explore around its scenic wide stretch of sand. The site is also a short walk from the South West Coast Path – hike the up and down trail to Portreath four or so miles west – and near the Mineral Tramways trail, 14 mostly traffic-free miles from Portreath to Devoran down on the south coast near Falmouth. Shops, restaurants, bars and river boat trips are all at Truro a few miles away; also take time to see the museum, and, if you're around on Wednesday or Saturday, to mooch around the Truro farmers' market on Lemon Quay. Gardens? Several are in the area, with the National Trust's Trerice and Glendurgan the closest to the site. Or gold? Take a trip to Cornwall Gold Centre on the Portreath Road, to pan for gold, have a go at pottery, or just look significantly at your significant other over the gold, silver and pearl jewellery for sale. For family cycling or walking, Tehidy Country Park just outside Portreath is flat and buggy-friendly, and leads out to spectacular views for smashing picnics. More actively, try SK8 Skate Park and The Track, Sithians Lake for watersports and Camel Creek Adventure Park at Wadebridge.
