  • Cornwall campsite in a flat five-acre field with sea views
  • A 10-minute walk to Trevaunance Cove and Trevellas Cove
  • Direct access to local footpaths; spacious play area
Tin mines, cool coves and steam railways… Sunny Corner is a top pick for laidback outdoor breaks on Cornwall's north coast, with plenty of things to do in easy reach. This small and well-maintained campsite is in a five-acre field on the edge of the village of St Agnes with stunning sea views, spacious pitches and easy access to all the village's amenities (about 10 minutes' walk away). Families certainly aren’t forgotten here, as the site is well equipped for all ages. There’s a spacious open field where the kids can blow off steam and make new friends in a safe and welcoming environment. And in terms of practicalities, Sunny Corner has functional toilets and showers for guests, all of which are well-maintained and a short walk away from the pitches. Sunny Corner is in the area of St Agnes known as Wheal Kitty, so you’ll only be a short five-minute walk from the historic buildings of the Blue Hills Tin Mine, where there’s a small exhibition about Cornwall's industrial past. Trevaunance Cove, a spectacular lifeguarded beach, and the more secluded Trevellas Cove are around a 10-minute walk away, while other coastal havens like Perranporth can be reached in as little as a 10-minute drive. Food on the brain too? Don’t worry, as you’ll be well set with a number of family-friendly cafés, pubs, restaurants and a couple of small supermarkets in the village that are easy to reach on foot within roughly 10-15 minutes.

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: The campsite was ever so clean and tidy. Especially the toilets and showers. Having stayed at a few different campsites in Cornwall this is by far the best for cleanliness. There were lots of signs to indicate the dos and don’t within the park which was extremely helpful. Both toilets and showers all had soap, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, nappy bags and air freshener which I thought was a great idea. The showers were powerful, hot and had plenty of room for dry clothes and a bench to sit at whilst changing. Each shower had a mop to wipe away the water from your shower which made it clean again for the next use. I have a thing about spiders and bugs during camping but these were all spider free and really pleasant. The campsite hat a “help yourself” place for campers to put unwanted items to share with others. Such as bbqs, beach equipment etc. They had a large bucket and water tap to wash out wetsuits and swimming costumes. They had use of a freezer with carrier bags and pens to label freezer items should you wish to use them. Obviously good for ice packs. They had a free charging station you could use, we didn’t use this but it was there if needed. The lady in charge is around each morning, either in the reception area, or cleaning toilets and showers. She was very approachable and easy to chat to. Most campsites we’ve stayed at before in open at 2pm so this was really good with a 11am set up time, it gave us more time to go off and explore on our 1st day. Plenty of room between for your tent on your pitch. The sink areas for washing dishes etc were situated around the fields so plenty to use. So peaceful. Walking distance to the local town for little shops and restaurants. Enough large bins to put rubbish in. The fees were much better off without the adding for dogs and cars people. This definitely swung our vote to stay here. We wanted to stay an extra night and booked it that day through an email as we didn’t want to leave. I emailed the manager in the morning and she replied straight away. She was very quick to reply each time I emailed. We will 100% be coming back to stay here it was brilliant.

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: This is a very well laid out campsite. The facilities were clean and tidy and there were enough showers and hot water to do the washing up when needed. I would recommend this campsite to all. Kate was helpful and gave advice when asked. There is a facility to donate any spare camping equipment that is both unusual and good for the environment Derek

Disliked: None

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at sunny corner. My son loved the open field to play and run around in. The scenery around the site was stunning and so much to explore. The owner was extremely welcoming and relaxed. All facilities were fantastic and cleaned regularly, even seeing the owner cleaning at 10pm! Will definitely be back and for a longer stay next time!

Local attractions

Get your hands on Cornish tin products to take home with you and see how the family goes about the ancient tin mining process at Blue Hills Tin Mine (five minutes' walk). After a lesson on the tin mining industry, there’s rockpooling at Trevaunance Cove (10 minutes' walk) or surfing at Perranporth (10 minutes' drive) to keep up the pace. Indeed, while there are so many places within around 10 minutes’ drive of the site, it doesn’t hurt to go a little further out, especially when there are coastal hotspots like Newquay (25 minutes) or Falmouth (35 minutes) to hand. These bigger places have plenty of entertainment in the form of watersports, amusement parks or shopping… and for steam train trips, there's Lappa Valley (30 minutes). Cornwall’s well-known for its coast, of course, but there are also some gorgeous gardens that make for a great afternoon out in this southern part of England. There are the rainforest biomes of the huge Eden Project (50 minutes), which has a daring zipwire and giant swing too – or Trebah Garden (45 minutes) for a taste of the sub-tropical beside the coast.
