Electric camping pitch - tencreek holiday park

  • Lively family park five minutes' drive from the coast at Looe
  • Huge range of facilities including cabaret room, bar, diner and café
  • Indoor pool, toddlers' pool, swim lessons, sports room and shop
‘We’re all going on a summer holiday…’ And a spring, autumn and, er, winter one too… At Tencreek Holiday Park, the nearest park to lovely Looe in Cornwall, you and the family can arrive in all seasons as a base for the best of south-east Cornwall and Devon, or just stay on site to spoil yourselves silly with the lashings of facilities and entertainment for all ages. And the views are pretty tenfastic too… Tencreek is aimed at families and couples, and as such has any number of tiptop things to try: a kids’ club just for starters, and an adventure playground and sports pitch for small sorts to whirl around outside. More grownuply, the park also has the Castaway entertainment complex with large cabaret room, bar, Deano’s Diner and indoor sports room with darts and pool; there's also family entertainment every night from the Yellow Coats and Tencreek mascots. Don’t forget the dog either: the park is dog friendly and has a dog walking area with access to the public footpath. If it rains, the kids won’t even notice once you get them to the heated indoor pool and toddlers’ pool, which are also open all year and free to use (there are classes such as Aquafit and kids’ swimming lessons available at a small additional charge). The thoughtful folk at Tencreek have ensured that the pool is always lifeguarded, and there are even adults-only sessions at times, if you can manage to get the kids dried off and packed off for a bit… The park also has a fully-stocked food shop, a café with takeaway and a modern laundry.

What customers say

Clean, well-kept site with great facilities, especially the pool and friendly staff. Good location for coastal walks and Looe. Spacious pitches and good value. Some noise and no dogs in the clubhouse. Shower pressure and recycling could be better.

Our son enjoyed the pool, we usually like to take him twice a day (whilst other parent stays with the dogs) but we could only use the pool once per day.

Powered grass campsite (maximum 6 metres)

Liked The view over Looe bay from our tent.
The facilities were mostly good.
The bar area was great.
Friendly and helpful staff

Disliked The view of the unkempt seasonal pitches below us from our tent.
Showering took too long due to the button needing to be pressed every 5 seconds making it a taskmaster like game.
The pitches dont appear to drain off overly well after rain and it quickly became a mud bath on our pitch.

Liked Location, that's about it!

Disliked We stayed here nearly 17 years ago, the caravan we stayed in had an electrical fault and nearly set on fire,at the time we had a 6 month old baby with us! We thought we would try tencreek again with our 2 daughters and dog in our campervan. When we was booking in at the reception a lady came in and put the keys down on the desk for a caravan and said to the receptionist "we're going home, the caravan is filthy and has no gas working" we thought this was abit harsh at the time but little did we know!
Went onto Deano's website to look at the food, there was a good meal deal on there but wouldn't let us order online so we went to the bar to order the food. a guy came to us started taking our order then walked off to serve someone else, left us standing for a good 5 mins. The staff said the meal deal isn't on offer any more (it takes 2 mins to update a website!!) We ordered 2 pizzas and a portion of chips for double the price of the meal deal we wanted. The pizzas were awful frozen ones, for the price we paid we expected good fresh pizzas, you could have picked these up from Iceland for £2!
After this disappointment we decided to have a showers ready to go into the clubhouse. Our 2 daughters went to shower first, they came back moaning, saying the shower was cold and no water pressure. I went to check this myself, thinking they didn't know how to work them properly. The showers turned out to be luke warm and only a drip on the hot setting so didn't end up having a shower.
We went to the clubhouse about 9pm to try n cheer ourselves up after a bad start to our break only to be denied access from the bouncers because we didn't have passes from the reception. We were never given passes when we signed in earlier that day nor was we told we needed them, so we went back to the camper extremely disappointed and unhappy. We had driven 5 hours to get to tencreek for a family break after having an awful start to the new year, we was so fed up this morning we decided to pack up and drive back home. Tencreek , don't expect us back any time soon we'll leave it longer than 17 years!
I think you should change your name from tencreek to shitcreek and tell everyone to bring a paddle when they book!

Liked Great position, Lovely Pool was a wonderful treat in the heavy rain when we didn't want to walk. Great walking straight from the campsite to the coast path or by country lanes to Looe. Spacious pitches Grass pitches were level and good despite all the rain. Clean and great washing facilities. Helpful staff.

Local attractions

Oodles of activities and attractions await once you’ve dragged yourself off site: pootle around Looe’s Harbour Quay, Banjo Pier and the 16th-century Old Guildhall in East Looe, or take a boat to Looe (St George’s) Island, where just once a year on a very low tide it’s possible to stroll to it across the sand. Sea-based sightseers can go from Looe to Fowey and take the ferry to Polruan or Bodinnick and the former house of Daphne du Maurier (Daphne and Rebecca fans can also go ghost hunting at Cornwall’s legendary coaching house at Bodmin Moor, said to be the county’s most famous smuggling inn). Most day trippers take a car for the 12-mile Looe-Fowey journey, but if you’re feeling energetic enough and want to see some stunning coastal scenery, the local South West Coast Path hike goes from West Looe to Polruan via Hannafore, Talland Bay and Polperro. You officially have full permission to get a bus or taxi back…
