Good location for walks, too rustic for us & lack of level pitches
Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked The location accessed some narrow lanes, is close to the canal (short walk down the hill) where you can walk, just over a mile into Bude and onto the beaches and the town centre. The canal walk has lots of wildlife (ducks, geese, kingfishers etc., a very peaceful stroll (no bikes permitted on the canal tow path) and the Dunes on the beach were a great place to enjoy the sun and views over the bay and shelter from the wind late September so the weather was on the turn). Access to the headland and coastal walk is 10 mins in the other direction The site was very quiet as it was end of season, the owner was very friendly and met us on arrival to let us know various things.
Disliked It's hard to be too critical as this is an eco-site, so you do expect more rudimentary facilities. There was plenty of hot water for the showers but in short it really does need an upgrade - I don't mind 'rustic charm' but would expect to have better maintained shower area in general. Two hand basins and only one was working. There is no hot water to the pot wash area. The site only has a few level pitch areas - we were able to position the VW camper and awning and with the aid of our vehicle levellers set up between some trees but this made opening the tailgate fully a little tricky. Being picky, you can hear the constant 'drone' of the A39 "Atlantic Highway' in the distance but perhaps my sharp hearing is more my issue!

Liked Peaceful site a pleasant walk from the coast path and town with its good pubs and facilities.

My go to site whenever I can
Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked A lovely tranquil site, close enough to Bude to walk.
The walk along the canal and through the marshes is really nice.
The eco facilities are brilliantly kept and having phone Chargers is a good facility.
Disliked Nothing to dislike. I hope that guests appreciate the ethos of the site.

Peaceful no frills relaxed site.
Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked Chilled out quirky eco site with firewood for sale, animals and close to the canal go walk into Bude (a mile). 10 mins from Upton Beach with some great rock pooling and dramatic rocks and where you can jump on the south west coastal path.

Not what it used to be!
Primitive grass tent campsite (two person, small)
Liked Beautiful location, amazing skies
Disliked I stayed here about 5 years ago, and came back with my daughter as I was so impressed before. Sadly, the site is no longer what it used to be! The wildlife pond has dried up and the walkways/bench area are in poor repair. The veg patches don’t seem to be there anymore for salad picking, and the horses are no longer accessible for apples! The facilities were poorly maintained, the old coffee/pancake van is long gone along with the communal benches. Nice to see heather the alpaca is still there tho, but sadly I will be taking my little one elsewhere next time
