  • Friendly West Sussex campsite with handy indoor space
  • A 10-minute drive from Selsey and Chichester
  • Indoor 'beach' area with sandpit, books and games
Find your new happy place at Creative Camping, an aptly named campsite close to the West Sussex coastline. Located midway between Selsey on the coast and the historic city of Chichester, this laidback spot is a top pick for families and friends looking for a getaway somewhere just that little bit different. As well as the well-maintained pitches and green outdoor area, Creative Camping has a spacious indoor area for guests to enjoy. Come and relax on the indoor 'beach', sit back on one of the comfy chairs, let the kids play in the sandpit or take your pick of the games and books on offer. The indoor space also has a lounge and dining area, a kitchen with sinks, two toilets, two showers, a changing room and a baby changing table. When you spend time outside, you'll appreciate the site's quiet location away from the road and the natural feel of the place – sit back and relax and it's quite likely that you'll see birds of prey flying overhead. Dogs are welcome here and there's easy access to footpaths in the local area for their walks. The sensible use of open fires and barbecues is allowed, and guests can make use of the site's big barbecue and pizza oven. Handily, Sidlesham village centre, where there is a pub, is about a quarter of a mile away to the north.

What customers say

Super family-friendly, unique campsite with great, clean facilities, including cool outdoor showers & a well-equipped indoor space. Hosts Kym & Gary are praised for being so welcoming & helpful. Lots of space, free fire pits/BBQs, & tons of kids' toys/activities. Some road noise, but overall a relaxing, creative escape with amazing hospitality.

Liked Creative is a site with heart, everything about it shows real thought and attention to detail. The owners have stamped a lovely personal touch all over.
We had mechanical problems when we arrived and the owners were extremely helpful and were able to get us parked despite our lack of power. Good facilities, indoor beach was a nice touch as were the communal space. Our 11 yo was introduced to another child by the owner who was staying there when she arrived and they ended up hitting it off and playing all night. There are loads of outdoor toys around and kids were quite naturally hanging out, really nice.

Disliked We were there one night and it was an excellent experience.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We loved it! There were so many helpful, practical touches, including outdoor showers, a fridge freezer and kettle in a little communal kitchenette, a cosy seating area, tons of things for the kids at the site, and the facilities like showers and loos were all spotless and functional. The welcome was very friendly and the other campers were lovely.

Liked We loved the laid back vibe. Our grandaughter had the most amazing time making new friends and spending in the gift shop all the toys were pocket money prices .
Kym & Gary were great hosts perfect place to chill out with something for everyone. Great location too

Disliked The weekends were quite noisy with older children playing outside our caravan kicking a ball till quite late which was a bit disturbing. We had a few bumps on our cars & caravan.
Having said that overall we had a great time

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This was my first camping trip away with just my 4 year old son and myself, I was very nervous at first as the camping experience is all very new to me, however upon arrival I instantly felt at ease, Kym was very welcoming and showed us around when we had parked up, I could tell my son also felt at ease as he started playing straight away!(sometimes it takes him a while to warm up).
This camp caters perfectly for families with children as there is so much for them to do, my son’s personal favourites being the go-karts and indoor sand pit.. they even had an adult go-kart!
Toilets were kept clean, I didn’t use the shower facilities as I only stayed for one night but looked fine!
There was a communal area with a fridge, kettle, microwave etc and a love little shop with arty bits for the children and a beautiful indoor area that honestly looked magical!
It was peaceful at night and we had no issues with any noise from other campers, slight road noise but this was not an issue for us!

There is a 24h petrol station with a shop at the end of the drive and a pub a short walk away ( I didn’t use not explore either of these but very handy to have).

There is fire pits and other great things that could be used too.

I have already booked another slightly longer stay with friends and our children,
Definitely a beautiful hidden gem.

Disliked The sign wasn’t overly obvious but the clear directions given by Kym beforehand made it easy enough to find!

Local attractions

There are all sorts of coastal corners you'll want to explore while in West Sussex, from the wildlife haven wetlands of RSPB Pagham Harbour (five minutes' drive) to the cheerful seafront at Selsey (10 minutes) or the sandy stretches of West Wittering (15 minutes). Slightly further afield, it's easy to get to other maritime spots, whether you fancy a day trip to the seaside resort and pleasure harbour at Littlehampton (30 minutes) or want to walk around the historic dockyards of Portsmouth (30 minutes). Jaunts to the bright lights and vintage shops of Brighton (an hour and 10 minutes) are also on the cards if you fancy a really special day out. There's also much to see and do inland locally, with many of the prettiest parts of the South Downs National Park just a short drive away. While you're in the area, make sure to check out pretty historic country estates like Arundel Castle (25 minutes), and if ancient history's your thing you can make tracks for the mosaics and columns of Fishbourne Roman Palace (15 minutes).
