Primitive forest floor tent campsite

Liked Very spacious and a wonderfully quiet area but only a stones throw from Chichester, great spot! The site owner was really pleasant and helpful.

Disliked Toilet roll was wet and portaloo a bit rough.

Primitive forest floor tent campsite

Liked Rural fenced off field. Very quiet. Perfect for the two of us and our dog. Back to basics which we like. Being fenced off / gated was important, having the dog.

Disliked A little tricky to find, but got there in the end!

Local attractions

You might want to check what’s on at Goodwood Racecourse (15 minutes’ drive) once you’ve secured your stay at Sheepwash. Once per year, it hosts the Goodwood Revival and Goodwood Festival of Speed, featuring racing events with vintage and modern cars. Not that keen on racing? There’s plenty to do of a different theme: those who like museums may want to have a browse of the World War I and Cold War aircrafts at the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum (five minutes) and or the restored rural scenes from the 1300s to the early 1900s at the Weald & Downland Living Museum (15 minutes). Of course, Chichester (10 minutes) has lots of historic sites too, from the Novium Museum and Chichester Cathedral to the pretty Bishop’s Palace Gardens and Chichester Canal. Arundel, too: it has the medieval Arundel Castle (15 minutes) and a museum. Up north is the South Downs National Park, home to sites like Stansted Park (30 minutes), an Edwardian country house with a deer park and woodland. The Kingley Vale National Nature Reserve (20 minutes) is another easy-to-reach spot. It has ancient trees and wildlife like red kites, buzzards and woodpeckers, so bring your binoculars.
