  • Family-friendly camping on a New Forest farm near Lymington, Hampshire
  • Easy access to Lymington, Isle of Wight ferry, Beaulieu and beaches
  • Firepits to hire; bar, coffee van and coffee brew bar on selected days
Roll up families and friends – and bring your dogs (on leads). Teddy’s Farm is a sheep farm near Lymington in the New Forest, with pop-up camping fields set away safely from the roads and sheep nearby, woodland wildlife on site and views to the Isle of Wight on a clear day. Once camping’s done for the season everything reverts back to a working farm, so what you can expect here is an eco-friendly back-to-basics campsite with a few frills: compost loos, hot showers, a recycling facility and an honesty shop for any essentials you may have forgotten. There’s plenty of space to go around too (no cramming in around here) but no fixed pitches, so you can choose a spot that works for you. Light pollution is kept to a minimum at Teddy’s Farm, so there should be some splendid stargazing to be done (but just make sure you bring a torch to find your way around after dark). You can hire firepits and buy logs on site too – and on selected Friday evenings there’s a visiting bar and pizza van to boost your fireside time. (And on some days there’s also a coffee van or a coffee brew bar to help ease any morning grogginess…) You may also be pleased to hear that there are several pubs within walking distance too, for drinks and grub at the end of your day’s adventures.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Very easy to find a suitable and level pitch. Casual check in with payment taken previously on line. Facilities were rudimentary but well serviced and worked very well. Showers were excellent. Everything is managed in a sustainable way with minimal impact to the farm environment.

Disliked: Very little to say here.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Great location, nice size pitches. Teddy is really friendly and helpful. Good facilities including nice hot showers, hot water for washing up, coffee bar, on site food, cocktail bar. Toilets are nice and clean as well as being very environmentally friendly.

Disliked: A few wasps around but that is natural for a working farm at this time of year

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The venue, the ambience, Teddy, the mobile bar, the local pub grub, check in system and honesty shop - all good.

Disliked: Luke warm water in the shower - guessing it might have been heated by the sun and there wasn’t much of that!!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The campsite had a great vibe, very well equipped and the showers were lovely! We felt very welcome, Teddy was friendly and came round to greet us and see that we were ok in the bad weather we had. There was plenty of space for the kids to run around and it was great that we could have a fire pit.

Local attractions

This is a fab base for exploring the New Forest (five minutes’ walk) – and if you’d rather explore on two wheels there’s a bike hire shop within five minutes’ drive. Whichever mode of getting around you choose, you’ll be sure to meet free-roaming cattle and the famous New Forest ponies Georgian-era Lymington (five minutes’ drive) is a lovely spot to wander, thanks to its yacht marinas, old-world pubs and cute indie shops. From there, you can take the Isle of Wight ferry (10 minutes) from the outskirts of town, or head to Henry VIII’s 16th-century Hurst Castle (15 minutes) for views of the island and The Needles rocks. The historic port of Buckler’s Hard (20 minutes) is where Nelson built his Navy, and today you can poke around the Maritime Museum or take a boat trip up the Beaulieu river. Close by is the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu (15 minutes), with its collection of priceless vintage cars. And if the history vibe isn’t working for you all, then skive off down to the shingle beach at Keyhaven (15 minutes) for chilled family fun.
