Charming Glamping in a beautiful 6-acre feld tucked away in the peaceful countryside, this glamping site in Great Sampford offers the perfect balance of outdoor adventure and home comforts. It features four fully furnished 5-meter bell tents, each designed for a relaxing and hassle-free stay. Inside, guests will be provided with a double mattress plus single blow-up mattresses up to two, depending on booking size (optional 3rd blow-up can be provided at request as well as a travel cot without bedding) all pillows, duvets, fresh linen and 1 towel per person. Inside, you will find cosy furnishings and lots of home comforts. Each tent has its own outdoor table and seating area, fire pit/BBQ, and individual cooking facilities. We want to ensure you don't have to think about a thing, so we will provide a cool box with 2 ice packs, gas cooker, water carrier with tap, cutlery, picnic style crockery, chopping boards, knives, bottle opener, pots & pans, kettle, tea, coffee, sugar and even some marshmallows to roast on these lovely starlit nights. The fire pit doubles up as a bbq, but please bring coals and bbq utensils, as this is something we are unable to provide. For added convenience, a cabin with a hot shower and flushing toilet is on site, and where you also have access to phone charging point and a small shared fridge/freezer compartment is available, please note there is limited freezer space. There will also be access to a few board games in the cabin which we would love for you to share. A short stroll across the field leads to the friendly local pub serving delicious food. The area is perfect for cycling with quiet country roads and beautiful countryside for those who like to explore on foot. We have lived here for 40 years and are passionate about sharing this stunning part of Essex with visitors. The surrounding area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists, with scenic countryside trails, quiet lanes, and charming villages to explore. We are a 23 minute drive from Stansted Airport and there are frequent trains from London will take you to Audley End, which is 10 miles/20 minutes drive away) As the sun sets, the field transforms into a stargazers paradise, with clear night skies and minimal light pollution. Guests can gather around their fire pit, toast marshmallows, and soak in the peaceful surroundings. Please note, the proximity to Stansted Airport does mean that planes pass overhead periodically. Readers Field, Great Sampford is a 6.2 acre (2.5 hectare) field which we have owned for 21 years. It has been “set aside” for over 40 years and has recently been used as a hay meadow. It is bounded on 1 side by our own house and grounds, where we have lived since 1985, and has other fields behind and in front. We have lots of wildlife in the field ranging from rabbits, hares, badgers, foxes, muntjacs and roe dear, who pass through our field. Overhead we have buzzards and red kites as well as rooks and wood pigeons. Depending on the time of year, there are blackberries, crab apples, rose hips, sloes and elderflowers & berries growing around the perimeter. There are far ranging views to the south as Readers Field is set up on a ridge and is one of the higher points in Essex.

Bell tent

Liked We stayed at this beautiful glamping site with a group of friends so had the whole place to ourselves. It was perfect for a group of families.

Loved lots of the thoughtful details like lamps in the tents, a hairdryer, shampoo/conditioner, free coffee, tea and firewood. Being with 2 kids, it was nice to have a comfy mattress, clean showers and fridge space. The tent was furnished with a blowup bed for our toddler and a cot for our baby.

The walk to the pub is lovely and there are lots of nice villages to visit nearby.

Highly recommend as an escape from London!

Bell tent

Liked We recently hired the entire field with a group of friends, and it was nothing short of magical. It’s the perfect spot for families with young children, completely safe and secure, with plenty of space for kids to run around while the adults could relax.

The peaceful setting, combined with thoughtful touches throughout, made this one of the most enjoyable and relaxing breaks we've had in a long time.

The bell tent was immaculate – brand new and beautifully furnished with a super comfortable double bed and an equally cosy bed for my daughter. I loved the fairy lights, bedside tables, extra tables, torch, and even mirror.

The tent came with a fully stocked basket that had everything we needed: proper cutlery, including children's knives and forks, generous amounts of teabags, premium instant coffee, and even a jar of marshmallows! There were plenty of mugs, tumblers, and elegant wine glasses – a real touch of luxury and so well put together.

Each tent has its own wooden picnic table outside, which was perfect for meals, while the food prep tables with plastic benches on either side were a complete game-changer. We used them constantly for cooking, and the extra surface area made food prep a breeze. It was such a thoughtful addition, especially when cooking for a large group!

The toilet and shower were spotlessly clean, with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner provided. I liked that there was a separate area within the cabin for hair drying and putting on make up.

We also loved that there’s a charming countryside pub just a 15-minute walk away with friendly staff and an amazing Italian menu.
