What customers say

This campsite offers a beautiful, tranquil riverside setting with easy access for swimming and kayaking. Campfires and BBQs are allowed. It’s well-placed for exploring local towns and countryside. Facilities are basic but functional and eco-friendly. While many enjoyed the peacefulness and helpful owners, some mentioned occasional overcrowding and noise, and a few found it pricey for what's offered.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked This was our second visit to otter channel campsite and once again it didn't disappoint.
The site is extremely clean, easily accessible and caters to everyone.
There is space for the kids to run around, dog friendly and the river over the road is great for kayaking and swimming. The compost toilets do not smell and are a great eco friendly addition. Do try the shower...a great experience. The honesty shop has the basics you may have forgotten and do book the firepit. There are shops nearby, lovely cafe and a good pub.
Katie's communication is brilliant and you really feel welcome. We will be back.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The location is good. Easy access to river.

Disliked Expensive for what you get. Pitches are very small you are very close to others. Noise is not policed music was blaring until gone midnight. Showers are an experience, I am happy with a cold water shower from a bucket but not for £35 per night! Drinking water comes from plastic containers left in the sun all day. Generally clean however a lot of rubbish in the bushes.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay.

Sadly, the music was out of my control as this was a private party in the local village.

Decent level pitches. Campfires and barbecues…

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely setting, basic facilities and great location. We particularly liked swimming in the channel

Disliked Over populated, not managed well
-no one visited or checked in, people all had their cars on the field despite instructions to move them once unloaded, lack of resources provided as stated in description there would be wood but too many people and not enough, messaged lady who said she was not available. We had our son with us and very loud music on Saturday night kept us all awake which was less than ideal

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We have been recommending this campsite to everyone! Amazing location next to the river - we enjoyed a refreshing swim on a sunny evening. It’s also very close to Rye, Camber sands and Dungeness as well as countless pretty villages with a great selection of pubs.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Location is beautiful & loved it was small but not over crowded with a sensible number of pitches. All tge pitches were adequate in size & you didn't feel others were too close either. The surrounding area & the River Rother is beautiful.

I should also mention the owners are very friendly, welcoming & helpful.

Highly recommend.

Disliked We didn't dislike anything about the campsite except others apparent inability at times to follow instructions on the compost toilets which made 1 out of 3 unusable during most of our visit. That said we are sure if we had let the owners know that would have been resolved swiftly.
