Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Spacious pitch, clean facilities, great for families, with young children, because a large central green space so you can see your children at all times.

Disliked: Pitches don’t have lines to mark out spaces clearly and this led to a man getting quite aggressive and shouting inappropriately about where to park - not pleasant in front of the children. Dog poo on the green space but this is the responsibility of dog owners.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Friendly welcome. Pitches not very level, luckily we had air. Ehu on pitch, bins and elsan point near toilets/showers. Cannot comment on toilets/showers as we are self sufficient. A very busy and at times loud weekend. Very glad we were at the opposite end to most of the noise. Handy for RHS Bridgewater, so may well stay again.

Disliked: No drive over waste. Which is a shame for the price. However an option to work on…

Local attractions

Fancy stretching your legs? The Turton and Entwistle Reservoir (10 minutes’ drive) is probably the closest place for a walk in the woods, or you could head a little further afield for the many trails of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (35 minutes) or venture into the Yorkshire Dales from Skipton (45 minutes). Sticking to the outdoor attractions, you could also meet the animals at Smithills Open Farm or the Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary, admire the Singing Ringing Tree art installation or stroll around the Victorian gardens of Astley Hall (all about 20 minutes away). And of course there’s always the option of some sandy time at Blackpool beach (40 minutes)… For a bit of urban scenery, take a trip to Blackburn (10 minutes) for the museum, cathedral and ice arena, or set off for Manchester (45 minutes) and the Imperial War Museum North, National Football Museum and plenty of places to eat, drink and make merry.
