  • Cosy two-acre field with far-reaching views around the Solway Firth
  • Silloth 10 minutes' drive; 25 minutes from Carlisle
  • Dog-friendly site; barbecues welcome (off the grass)
Kelsick House Camping is a friendly two-acre campsite set in the coastal countryside around the Solway Firth. The site is in a quiet location, far from the crowds but within easy reach of top attractions including Carlisle, the Lake District, the Eden Valley and Scotland's Southern Uplands. The site is spacious and simple, with two toilets, fresh running water, recycling points and waste disposal facilities. Kelsick House Camping allows barbecues, and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you on camping trips here. Kelsick House Camping is about 10 minutes' drive from the pretty Victorian seaside town of Silloth and its promenade, where there are supermarkets and takeaways. Heading inland, you can reach the rural market town of Wigton in roughly the same amount of time – here there are handy amenities including a public swimming pool and a railway station. This simple site would make a very good base for fell walking, sea fishing, hiking along Hadrian's Wall (12 miles from site) or exploring the windswept landscapes of the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you need more to do, the Scottish border is an easy half-hour drive to the north.
