What customers say
Peaceful, well-kept site with spacious pitches, electric/water. Praised for scenery, calm, and friendly owners. Great for touring, dog walks. Note: no toilets/showers, minor road noise, tricky directions, careful caravan access.

A great site with lovely owners, level pitches and beautiful views.
Power optional cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (members only)
Liked This is a lovely site - just five pitches, situated down a lane directly from the main road. The pitches are pretty much level (you would struggle to find a grass pitch much more level) and even though they are grass they have reenforcement underneath which means that they aren't all soggy and gooey in the rain. Very simple services - a black water point, some recycling bins and a wheelie bin for your rubbish and lots of dark skies and big views. The owner is utterly lovely and very helpful and the whole site is spotless. We stayed for five nights and in that time quite a few of the pitches were used just as an overnight for travellers who were on their way to Scotland and we understand why - you can arrive whenever you like which is perfect if you have a long journey to get there.
You can hear the sound of the main road if you listen for it, but you are going to struggle to find total silence anywhere, so it's not really a moan. But for ease of access, for its location for Windermere, Conniston and so on - it's brilliant. There are walks directly from the site as well. In the evenings we stepped out of the van (briefly because it was -5) to see the dark skies and hear the owls. Beautiful.
We were at the site in the coldest week of the year and the pitch tap on site froze for a short while one morning - nothing we couldn't fix with a bit of patience and a few jugs of hot water from the MoHo tap. Each pitch has its own tap and its own hook up. if we had been more organised and filled up before we went to bed, this would not have been an issue at all. Lessons learned for us.
The only thing we didn't cope with very well (and it's our fault because we are numpties) is that you have to take a photo of your electric meter on the pitch at the beginning and the end of your stay and then text it to the owner when you leave (for the cost of the electric). Again - not the biggest thing in the world but if the lady in the van next to us had not reminded us, we may have forgotten.

Power optional cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (members only)
Liked Clean, quiet, nice view, easy access, convenient. We're self-contained so didnt need a toilet block or use wifi (not sure if there is any).
I telephoned the owner to find the chemical waste disposal as it was pitch black... Its just 30 yards over the grass towards the house and on the right hand side. We'll stay here again on our way up to Scotland or back on the way down.
We spent the next day fishing at Windermere which was just 30 minutes to the spot we like to park, half way around the lake.
There were just 3 campervans here including us. Just nice.

From the manager: Thank you for your review - We are sorry to read that you would not visit us again or recommend to friends.
In response to your feedback, I would like to take this opportunity for the benefit of our future customers to clarify that our site has approx. 1.5 acres of field land for customers to walk their dogs.
On foot, there is also a public footpath less than 100 yards from the site, a quiet country lane within 200 yards which leads to a woodland trail walk and also fell-side walks nearby.
In respect of the ratings you have provided, the site is extremely clean and I would consider we were most helpful as we recall meeting with you and provided assistance to you in connecting to the electric.
Guests are advised prior to booking that Electricity is paid via meter. Unfortunately we have no control over the weather and the rain could cause viewing the meter display to be difficult.
We would like to take this opportunity to reassure potential future guests of our commitment to an excellent experience. Please do consider this review an anomaly and read our other reviews from recent past guests feedback of the site for a true reflection of Valley End CL.
