  • Spacious site within Blakemere Village shopping and recreation centre
  • Microbrewery, falconry displays, adventure playground and restaurant
  • Within half an hour's drive of Chester Zoo and Blue Planet Aquarium
Sit back and spend some quality time together at Blakemere Touring Caravan Park, set in the central Cheshire countryside. Warm and friendly, and with excellent facilities to match, this spot has exactly what you need if you want to relax with your favourite people. A bus stop with convenient routes to Northwich and Chester is a short stroll from the site. Together with Cuddington train station, 25 minutes’ walk away, there’s also access to the lovely market town of Knutsford and the historic city of Chester. Calling all archers… also potters, shoppers and falcon fans… for Blakemere Touring Caravan Park is also in a prime slice of the countryside adjacent to Blakemere Village. This attraction has a shopping centre housed in a block of converted Edwardian stables, alongside a miniature railway, and may be the only village where you can saunter from an archery range to an antiques market, or slot a falconry display alongside making and painting your own mugs. If you’re peckish, there are many great places to eat and drink in the village, which includes pubs, a coffee bar and several artisan food outlets. Barbecues are allowed for those who want to dine outdoors. Pick up provisions from the farm shop just a five-minute drive down the road and do your chopping, grating and dicing in the food prep area. The kids might be so chuffed with the adventure playground that they offer to do the washing up… Dogs are welcome: the adjacent Mersey Forest makes a fine venue for walks with canine companions and there’s a tap to hand for the cleaning off of muddy paws.

Liked: Spotless showers and toilet block Busy but didn't feel cramped Next to Blakemere village for shops, food and bar All pitches level and spacious Very well cared for site

Disliked: Nothing apart from the rain which obviously isn't sites fault! Didn't become muddy though despite heavy rain

Silver powered gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Immaculate site, owners/staff are constantly gardening, tidying & cleaning. Flat pitches (gravel), with room between each. We had no immediate neighbours during our visit, so naturally felt very spacious. Toilets and shower area modern & clean, with music being played day & night. Plenty of hot water & showers a good size. Laundry and washing facilities also on site. Fabulous dog exercise area with picnic bench to sit on whilst pooches can run around. Small park for younger children too. Site adjacent to Blakemere Village which is lovely for a mooch (closes 5pm apart from the places to eat which are open until 7pm). Fabulous woodland walks a stones throw away from site out of Blakemere Village. Wifi temperamental signal (O2), but office got my teen son set up on the site wifi on our first day, thank you! TV signal - no issues.

Disliked: Site signage is a bit confusing stating to 'stay off grass' but there are picnic benches on the grass? I also walked into the static caravan section with my dog not realising this was a private area (static owner was clearly unhappy)... should just say something like 'Private Area. Static Occupiers Only' to avoid confusion.

From the manager: Thank you for the review. The signage is for vehicles to stay off the grass as they have been known to get stuck, especially in wet weather. I will pass on your comments to the park owners regarding the static holiday park. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and found lots to do in and around Blakemere Village and the Holiday Park. We look forward to welcoming you back with us soon...

Gold FHU gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Loved this park. Definitely one of the best we have stayed in and will definitely be back. The site was immaculate and the wardens were always around to help and ensure rules were being followed. We found these rules made for a lovely relaxed site with well behaved residents, dogs and kids. The quiet time of 10pm-8am was great too as no one keeping the kids up and no one running around shouting at 7am. Having the shopping village next door was a lovely touch and we enjoyed going up there to paint some crafts on a rainy afternoon. Lots of lovely woodland walks you can do from site. Staff were all so friendly on the holiday park itself, unfortunately not so much in the village pub but this is not owned by them so not much they can do about this but I'd give it a swerve.

Disliked: The only annoying points were the electric car charges were out of order and we weren't made aware in advance and were needing to use them. Also the WiFi is chargeable but we found it nearly impossible to logon and pay for it. When we did logon it was very temperamental. It would make more sense to charge a few pounds more for the pitch and just provide a better free of charge internet connection on site as we like to watch movies with the kids on an evening and couldn't logon to our accounts. These are only minor negatives and would not stop us from returning to the site.

From the manager: Thank you for the review, we will pass on your coments to the Village restaurant. We are currently awaiting our digital service team to come onsite and fix the issues with the wifi so appologies for this, and the same for the car chargers. We are glad this hasn't put you off and we hope to welcome you back onsite again very soon...

Local attractions

With Blakemere Village containing days'worth of stuff to do and see, no-one would blame you for staying put and savouring it all... if you do fancy venturing further afield though, Cheshire is chock full of options... Perhaps the on-site birds of prey aviary and falconry displays have piqued your interest? If so, take a trip to Chester Zoo and its underwater equivalent, the Blue Planet Aquarium (both 25 minutes’ drive), for encounters furry, fanged and cute. For a closer look at wildlife, Wood Lane Nature Reserve and the nearby Fenn’s, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses (50 minutes) draw birdwatchers and walkers in search of avocets and herons, adders and flesh-eating bog plants. If that sounds a bit alien, beetle over to Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre to take a look at the universe through the Lovell Telescope, or travel back to 13th-century times at Beeston Castle, both 25 minutes away. Don’t forget rock and pop history at The Cavern 50 minutes away in Liverpool, along with the Tate gallery, the busy waterfront and the ferries across the Mersey…
