Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: We liked the quietness of our stay it was the right time to go..We liked the buses that was situated outside and a pub minutes up the road.

Disliked: The place needed an upgrade with facilities ie. Better shower facilities more showers that worked..Hot water in the toilets better toilet seat that was cracked and broken and cleaned more.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: * location was good and quiet

Disliked: * tractors flying past the road until atleast 10pm * i wouldnt have called them pitches, they were just on car park spaves with a hook up point * toilets outdated and even though clean they needed some tlc * cafe and bar wasn't open but there was people (owners??) Sat around until very late on with a fire and drinking from the bar outside?? * cafe open 1030am for a couple of hours so not really breakfast or lunch options if staying for longer

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Separate walkers field which was great for peace and quiet. Perfect location along the Pennine Way. Shower was decent strength, temp and plenty of room to change clothes etc in the shower room. Washing up liquid and sponge provided. Pretty and quiet location. Saw a barn owl catching some prey too!

Disliked: Didn't think it needed gendered facilities - toilets were all separate but 3 gendered women and 1 for men which meant men waited a lot longer for the toilet, I think everyone could manage just fine if the toilets were for everyone. Lots of midges, but they did only descend briefly.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The space by the stream feels secluded enough and is fairly level in places. Campfires allowed off the ground which is a must for me. (Helps keep the midges away too ) Some beautiful encounters were had with a snowy owl and a muntjac deer just across the stream from camp at around dusk ! I cannot comment on the larger field further away from the mill building although the owner commented it was very hard ground. The sites itself is quite big being on an old.mill site. The mill is still there with additional buildings renovated to a small cafe and wedding venue/bar. The facilities are very dated but okay👍 3 ladies toilets with cold water only. Cannot comment on the shower but looked to be only 1 or 2 on site. Overall very pleasant stay & would return. Limited WiFi available outside the mill.

Disliked: Not much but not sure how I would feel if I was there longer and a couple nights.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Lovely spot. Mostly quiet with some farm traffic along the road, bug very minimal. Excellent access to the Pennine Way and Brontë walks. Pitch was sloped but still easy enough to set up small tents. The toilet and shower block were well maintained and close to the pitch. I'll certainly be back here again.
